Historia
Pride and Prejudice has delighted generations of readers with its unforgettable cast of characters, carefully choreographed plot, and a hugely entertaining view of the world and its absurdities. With the arrival of eligible young men in their neighbourhood, the lives of Mr and Mrs Bennet and their five daughters are turned inside out and upside down.

Marvelous narration
Revisado: 05-17-24
Narrator Lindsay Duncan is terrific. I was hoping she might have other Jane Austen or Charlotte Brontë novels on Audible but didn't see any. Maybe someday!

Will they read Tom Sawyer in a British accent too?
Revisado: 06-25-20
I was so excited to see Emily Post on Audible as I've been looking for an audiobook version for a long time. When I began listening, my heart immediately sank. The narrator has a posh British accent - which would be lovely for reading Pride and Prejudice but is so wrong for this quintessentially American book. Emily Post's etiquette is American etiquette, distinct from British etiquette now as much as in 1922, when the book was originally published. This reminds me of American restaurants that use "ou" spelling ("flavour" and "colour") on their menus to sound fancier--simultaneously pretentious and incorrect. Emily Post's etiquette is known for being unpretentious and wholly American--the decision to read Emily Post in a British accent was made by someone who thoroughly misunderstands the author's work.
