Historia
Forty thousand years in the past, the last family of Neanderthals roams the earth. After a crushingly hard winter, their numbers are low, but Girl, the oldest daughter, is just coming of age, and her family is determined to travel to the annual meeting place and find her a mate. But the unforgiving landscape takes its toll, and Girl is left alone to care for Runt, a foundling of unknown origin. As Girl and Runt face the coming winter storms, Girl realizes she has one final chance to save her people, even if it means sacrificing part of herself.

Aaaargh! Who was in her grave?!
Revisado: 04-18-25
Excellent story. Is there another book? Who was in the grave with Girl? I'm dying here. I must know.
The story is fascinating and seemingly realistic. I have lots of questions and no one to ask. Ugh.

Historia
Boarding an airplane strikes at least a small sense of fear into most people. Even though we all have heard that the odds of being struck by lightning are greater than the odds of perishing in a plane crash, it still doesn't feel that way. Airplane crashes might be rare, but they do happen, and they’re usually fatal. David Soucie insists that most of these deaths could be prevented. He’s worked as a pilot, a mechanic, an FAA inspector, and an aviation executive. He’s seen death up close and personal - deaths of colleagues and friends that might have been prevented if he had approved certain safety measures in the aircrafts they were handling.

Gruesome in detail and fascinating in depth of technical explanation. How flight safety improved over time helped me understand the people who fly.

Historia
Empire of the Summer Moon spans two astonishing stories. The first traces the rise and fall of the Comanches, the most powerful Indian tribe in American history. The second entails one of the most remarkable narratives ever to come out of the Old West: the epic saga of the pioneer woman Cynthia Ann Parker and her mixed-blood son, Quanah, who became the last and greatest chief of the Comanches.

The book reader is bland to the point of being tedious. The book was a chore to listen to but there are chapters I found useful.

Historia
In "elegant, finely honed prose" (The Washington Post Book World), Lebowitz limns the vicissitudes of contemporary urban life—its fads, trends, crazes, morals, and fashions. By turns ironic, facetious, deadpan, sarcastic, wry, wisecracking, and waggish, Fran Lebowitz is always wickedly entertaining.

Historia
In this bold and provocative book, historian Gregory Smithers investigates how African Americans have narrated, remembered, and represented slave-breeding practices. He argues that while social and economic historians have downplayed the significance of slave breeding, African Americans have refused to forget the violence and sexual coercion associated with the plantation South.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Mysterious but goofy
Revisado: 12-26-21
It's a very good book at the beginning. The middle of the book begins to explain what's actually going on. Chapter 33 explains everything and it to me is an 'eye-roller'. I will go on to the next book but I hope it stays away from psychology, politics and weak plot points. If the author would just stick to the science it would be an excellent top-notch book.

Adequate Story
Revisado: 04-18-21
As a cautionary tale, the story is adequate. As far as the plot goes there are a lot of issues. There are also many long passages that are completely unnecessary to the story and are quite boring to sit and listen to or read. The descriptions in the story are not done well. There's too much telling and hardly any showing at all. I was not transported to the places that the story was about. The readers of the story we're actually quite good. Knowing what I know now I don't think I would've purchased this book.
