Entertaining
Revisado: 03-15-25
The overall storyline is one we've seen in the "news" over the past 10 years or so. Like in so many other books or series like this, some ultra-rich people form a safe haven stocked full of former SF or SWAT members. Throw in the twist of deep state puppet masters working in the shadows on both sides and you get an interesting story. The narrator sorta kills the story with his voice, unfortunately. Between the narrator and the dialogue that seems more befitting a season of Leave it to Beaver (NOBODY talks the way these characters do in the current day) and I can't put 5 ⭐️ down for any of it. I enjoy Mr. Akart's works, but it is okay to have your characters speak like we're in the 2020's and not 1950s. Another narrator may have been able to do the story better justice without almost every character sounding exactly alike.

Historia
Then fabric of society had come unraveled. Neighbor fought neighbor despite the threats lurking just beyond the gates of their neighborhood. Despite the best efforts of Dean, Emmy, Grayson and the other members of the Friday Night Club, the self-appointed leaders of Malibu Country lost their focus. Behind the gates, a handful of vocal of residents, those running the neighborhood's homeowner's association, claimed the ultimate authority over their neighbors. The rule of law, as well as common decency, was cast aside. Tensions boiled over with devastating results.

Historia
As the first waves of injured bystanders, guardsmen, and rioters arrived at hospitals, it became apparent that a deadly new disease had been unleashed on the population. Whether the virus was naturally occurring or an escaped lab experiment, Cade hadn't a clue and wasn't especially concerned until he learned of its unprecedented virulence, unusual method of transference, and the fact that, according to the news, it brought the newly dead back to life, semi-mindless, and with an insatiable desire to feed on the flesh of the living.

Decent ZomPoc story
Revisado: 12-15-24
Decent ZomPoc. As usual though, you have a main character who was former Special Forces, suprise suprise!! If an author is going to write about guns, then they should ACTUALLY know what guns they're talking about, ie "Sig M&P .40" ISN'T a thing. It's either a Sig Sauer or it's a Smith & Wesson M&P. A kid deciding to take care of offing himself after getting infected was another eyebrow raising thing, but hey, it's fiction so....

Historia
Three scientists were sent to Virginia to investigate how a human settlement has managed to coexist with primals. Those three scientists have now gone missing. And apparently it’s Lee Harden’s job to find them, get them out, and–most importantly–retrieve their research. But if Lee has any hope of getting past the huge population of primals in the area, he’s going to have to enlist the help of someone he thought he’d seen the last of: a human-primal hybrid named Kat.

Revisado: 11-03-24
This is probably the best book out of the entire Hardenverse. It was as hard to hit the pause button as it was to put the book down. DJ Molles just keeps the awesome story going, with hopefully no end to this universe any time soon.

Historia
On Zero Day of the first and last cyberwar in human history, the internet went dark, transport and power grids collapsed and cities began to starve, showing just how vulnerable the world could be to a targeted campaign of online sabotage. This final installment of this prescient epic of civilisation collapse finds the small ragtag band of survivors come together to face a new, but eerily familiar threat - the rise of a fascist militia among the ruins of a failing country.

Something that started good...
Revisado: 09-17-24
I listened to all 3 books in this series. It started out pretty good and then lost momentum. The "villain" - a former podcaster/Amazon warehouse worker turned warlord - was laughable. The different group dynamics was headshaking as well. The author, writing about America, should try using what Americans call things and not what they call it in Australia.
The narrator did a good job.

Very fast paced
Revisado: 09-01-24
I like the premise of the story but book 1 didn't continue to really build upon the "WHY" as to how everything started. Hopefully we'll get more of the backstory on the trigger event in book 2. The narrator voiced a couple of characters that had me roll my eyes, but overall it wasn't bad. It is fast paced and definitely has some violence in a handful of spots.

Historia
Strap in for the opening salvo of the ARISEN: Operators epic—the biggest and most explosive ARISEN adventure yet and the untold story of the pipe-hitting operators of the Unified Special Operations Command during the first two years of the Zulu Alpha. To have any chance of reaching safety in Fortress Britain, Master Sergeant Yaël Sion must first escape the collapsing gravity well of Israel as it's devoured from within by merciless jihadi fighters, striking in the chaos of rampaging hordes of infected civilians, all in a global pandemic spiraling out of control.

17 chapters that didn't need to be there
Revisado: 08-15-24
If you can make it through the first 16 chapters (3+ hours on audible) then you finally get to the Arisen type story that long time readers have become accustomed to. That many chapters of the history of Israel, the IDF and how they sorta pertain to the main character makes this book hard to justify anything other than 3 stars. Hopefully any future books in the series leave out unnecessary history lessons in attempt to overload a characters backstory.

Decent story that keeps your attention
Revisado: 07-11-24
The story wasn't bad, but the narration left a lot to be desired. It's as if the narrator thought EVERY character of questionable morals needed to sound like a cartoon "bad guy", while the "hero" sounded like Christian Bale's version of Barman mixed with Clint Eastwood's character on Grand Turino.

Historia
They each had their reasons for being a soldier. They each had their illusions. Goodrich came from Harvard. Snake got the tattoo - Death Before Dishonor - before he got the uniform. And Hodges was haunted by the ghosts of family heroes. They were three young men from different worlds plunged into a white-hot, murderous realm of jungle warfare as it was fought by one Marine platoon in the An Hoa Basin, 1969. They had no way of knowing what awaited them. Nothing could have prepared them for the madness to come. And in the heat and horror of battle they took on new identities, took on each other, and were each reborn in fields of fire....

Revisado: 06-21-24
Really enjoyed the story, but the narration needs work. The mispronounced words like "corpsman" and "rations" was irritating. It would be nice if it could be re-done by a narrator who doesn't mispronounce easy words.
