This book was frustrating and long for absolutely no reason. It should be listed under preteen. The characters lacked maturity. The push and pull was immature and the storyline was ridiculous. Honestly, it could have been wrapped up in 6 chapters with one conversation. The narration was ok considering what they had to work with.

Too much over enunciating by the female narrator

Listening to the female narrator was a chore. She over pronounced EVERYTHING. Rex became Re-ax. Nod was Gnawed. I just could not continue since her narration gave me a headache.

Ok read

I’m probably in the minority because I think this book was ok, not great. The story was long, drawn out and frankly frustrating to listen to. The total 180 Pierce made after the marriage was crazy to me and no explanation in the end justified it. Layla was feisty and I understood her reason for refusing to divorce Pierce, but I wished she would have left especially after everything he did and said. With that said, I skipped multiple chapters and only finished because I was curious about the ending.

Drawn out and juvenile

This book could have been wrapped up in one chapter. Characters were juvenile. All their issues would have been wrapped up with one simple conversation. The push and pull with these two was frustrating. I want you, no I don’t, but I do, I change my mind so go away, wait, I change it back so come here, no go away….and on and on it goes!

Not a mafia romance

Maybe this was poor writing but Matteo only survived being a mafia boss because this was fiction. There is no way he would have survived in the real. Point and case, he missed all the clues his drug house was going to get attacked even with the blaring one sided conversation Viviana had with Julia before leaving for the restaurant. He was standing right there and he didn’t pick up on it.....I did LOL.

Another reason this was a no for me is the lack of chemistry between Matteo and Viviana. I think the author was trying so hard to focus on the stereotype that mafia guys are cold and unfeeling that she took the romance right out of this story.

****Spoiler alert****
1) Matteo put a gun to Viviana’s head and pulled the trigger because he thought she betrayed him....and this was AFTER he supposedly developed feelings for her. Sorry but this ruined the HEA for me.
2) Matteo was ready to pick her up from her dad (after having his men dump her at her fathers doorstep AFTER he played Russian roulette with her) and kill her, but then realized he loved her and couldn’t live without her after she jumped in front of a bullet for him. Sorry but I lost all respect for Viviana at this point
3) After taking a bullet dumbass Viviana decided to plant herself as a mole in her dads house and Matteo left her there without guard or protection knowing her fathers intentions of giving her to his ruthless cousin

END OF SPOILERS

This book had too many holes in it for me to truly enjoy.

Female narrator reads SLOW!!

Grrrr! I am getting so pissed off with these narrator pairing. I love Teddy Hamilton, he is sooooo swoony, soooo sexy and dreamy and is an auto click for me because he NEVER disappoint, but more and more I find I’m unable to finish books he narrates because the other narrator they pair him with just does not measure up! I just added Samantha Summers to my “never listen to again” list of narrators. Her reading gave me a serious headache. She is so inconsistent with her pace, in one paragraph she goes from slow paced almost like a sloth, then fast, then cutting words off to the point it sounds like the audio is going in and out. It’s not all the time, but enough to be irritating and distracting! Anyway, Samantha’s narration aside, this was a beautiful love story that I enjoyed listening from Teddys (Cohen) POV, and READING from Samantha (Sky’s) POV (sorry, couldn’t listen to her). The sexual tension and chemistry was off the charts. I love how straight forward, witty and strong Sky was....total role reversal with this story. Beautiful secondary characters, love the family dynamic on both sides.

Bring back Kylie Stewart

Book one (Hate You) is still my favorite in the series, from storyline to narration, BOOK ONE WAS HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!!!. Book two (Trick You) was ok, but was ruined by the female narrator IMO. I ended up not finishing book 2. Now for book three. I was excited to read Spike and Kas’ story and it didn’t disappoint. It was full of steam, suspense and romance. Kas, who we met in book one, is the half sister of Zach. She came into Zach’s life when their mother died. She is tough and has been through some hard times and found herself inheriting her mother’s troubles after she died -which is how her and Spike came to be- Spike became her knight, rescuing her from a bad situation as she was trying to right her mothers’ wrongs. While there is an age gap (10 years) I didn’t see the big deal, she was over 21. However, some of her tendencies were a bit immature like the way she taunted and tempt Spike when all he wanted was to be a good friend and a honorable guy (but I guess it added spice to the story). As for narration, I say this all the time, narration makes or breaks a book. I love Shane and Vanessa, but Vanessa just wasn’t right for this book. Her and Shane did not flow right with this duet narration, it was a little off. Maybe I’m spoiled by the first book and how Shane and Kylie flowed, but of the 3 books so far, Shane and Kylie were the best pair. Anyway, great story, worth a credit.

Ridiculous ....waste of time

Never mind the credit, I want my time back. This story ended just as abruptly as it started. The author could have kept the attempt of a storyline and just written the sex scenes. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good erotica book, so the sex scenes weren’t the problem, it was the authors’ weak attempt to turn this into some sort of erotic mystery romance which came literally at the final hour of the book. The time the author spent trying to turn the story into a mystery/suspense erotica romance (in the final hour), could have been spent developing the characters and their love story. This book was so stupid I think it was written by a novice. I hate Caroline so much I wish I could reach into the book and ring her neck. Stupid girl, even when she realized she was what her husband wanted (Aphrodite) she kept trying to be a proper wife instead of doing her best to transform into Aphrodite, even if it’s only in the bedroom SMH. This book just didn’t make sense. Performance was ok.

Did not hold my attention

I got this because I was looking for something erotic with a whole lot of sex balanced with romance and a solid storyline. Funny enough, the story kept me engaged, but the sex did not hold my attention. I think I’m in the minority, but the sex scenes were boring. I like a good BDSM story, but I found the hero crass and evil. I understand his thirst for revenge, but how do you justify getting justice for your sister by doing the same thing that was done to her to someone else, maybe that’s why I couldn’t get into the sex scenes. I didn’t find any romance in this, Adam was mean to the very last chapter and Daphne was a doormat from beginning to end. I would have enjoyed Adam doing a little chasing for something other than sex with Daphne. And why couldn’t Daphne be strong and sexual? She showed signs of a strong female, but always succumb to Adam’s sexual needs instead of standing her ground. Narration was great and ran seamless between male and female.

Second chance at true love

I listened to this book twice! That’s how good it was. Hix was such a wonderful man who got tossed away by his ex-wife of 19 years, on the heels of his divorce he met Greta and together they try to build a life while battling exes and solving a murder in there small town. I loved this book and loved the main and most of the secondary characters. The book is long but definitely not drawn out. It is filled with drama, a little angst, and lots of steamy sexy parts. I would listened to this a 3rd, 4th, 5th and many more times. This one is definitely going into my faves list.
