Historia
In this eye-opening account, Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that "follow your passion" is good advice. Not only is the cliché flawed - preexisting passions are rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work - but it can also be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. After making his case against passion, Newport sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving what they do.

first read from this author not a fan.
Revisado: 12-09-23
this author sounds like they hate writing. I couldn't get through the 3rd chapter, maybe he brings it back to how to enjoy your work, but I can't keep reading the examples and complaining that they THINK wanting to have passion for your work is bad advice even dangerous? as someone who after trying to do what I was "supposed to do" to check the boxes and not chase my passions, and was miserable and unhealthy. when I started following my passions my life got better. and I can provide as many or more examples for doing so as the author does in the opposite. don't wast your time on this one unless you're looking for excuses to he unhappy.

A shape-shifting trickster on a quest for eternal life, Monkey King is one of the most memorable superheroes in world literature. High-spirited and omni-talented, he amasses dazzling weapons and skills on his journey to immortality: a gold-hooped staff that can grow as tall as the sky and shrink to the size of a needle; the ability to travel 108,000 miles in a single somersault. A master of subterfuge, he can transform himself into whomever or whatever he chooses and turn each of his body's 84,000 hairs into an army of clones.

Historia
In Survival of the Richest, Rushkoff traces the origins of The Mindset in science and technology through its current expression in missions to Mars, island bunkers, AI futurism, and the metaverse. In a dozen urgent, electrifying chapters, he confronts tech utopianism, the datafication of all human interaction, and the exploitation of that data by corporations. Through fascinating characters, Rushkoff explains why those with the most power to change our current trajectory have no interest in doing so.

loved every bit of this jook, except of course the mindset 9f the super wealthy and the reluctance they and most of society have to seeing reality and actually changing anything. since I'm using a platform that perpetuates the problem let's use it to spread awareness of it. buy every book Douglas and other of similar mind writes and share them with others.

Historia
Human beings are primates, and primates are political animals. Our brains, therefore, are designed not just to hunt and gather but also to help us get ahead socially, often via deception and self-deception. But while we may be self-interested schemers, we benefit by pretending otherwise. The less we know about our own ugly motives, the better - and thus, we don't like to talk, or even think, about the extent of our selfishness. This is "the elephant in the brain".

another great book that studies our inner motives and how our brains lie to us, and for us. this books talks about things that no one wants to discuss in the daylight.
Like all things that are not discussed, we are all better for having had the conversation.

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.
