I am a big fan of Alone and Reaping the Benifits, so I was super excited to see what this was going to be. Unfortunately, I was left with something that just confused me. I'm not sure what the purpose of anything was in this one. I kept waiting for something interesting to happen, and when nothing did, I had to leave the book for a while.

When I came back to finish it (I'm a completionist), It almost felt like she was left with a deadline to write a book and said "Oh here is something." Even Abby's performance was a bit off. Wow, that pains me to say. Still love both the writer and reader, so I'll probably be back for the second book.

Milena Mckay + Abby Craden = Gold

I have so many mixed emotions about this book because I love the combination of Milena Mckay and Abby Craden, but I don't like the MCs at all.

The storyline, the writing, and the amazing performance of Abby are all absolute gold. I love the writing style of Milena she just gets better with each book. I mean sometimes she words things in such a way that it just kicks you either in the heart with feels or in the face with truths. Sometimes she drops the funny on you right out of the blue and you are filled with happiness and joy. And her nerdiness makes me very happy as well. I would probably die if she wrote a fantasy novel one day. I will continue to buy her work for as long as she keeps writing.

But not liking the MCs really threw me off balance, I mean I reallllly didn't like them. I can't find any real reason why they acted the way they did, and at the end of the book one of them says something like "Even though we don't act like it we are adults" and I feel that sums up the way they both acted through the whole book. I found myself screaming in my car at them like hey y'all are 50 and 30 respectively so fucking act like it.

Abby Craden performed the fuck out of this book! I mean she should get some kind of reward. She did multiple accents, you felt her emotions when she was speaking, and every character sounded different. Simply put A-MAZ-ING!

This may not be one of my favorite books, but I have to say Jax is one of my favorite characters in any book I've read for a while.

I feel he gets treated a little badly. But we all need a wingman/friend like Jax.

Simply put I love this book! I love the combination of Milena Mckay and Abby Craden.

Milena's writing style is outstanding and in the story it really shines. The sex scenes are beautifully written, both romantic and sexy as hell (The taste stays with you) *swoon* And then the last little bit of the book is so unexpected, even for me someone who prides themselves in hardly being surprised by a book or movie didn't really see it coming.

And One could never forget Abbys performance in this book. Madeline's voice, Goddess the things it does. If I wasn't already in love with Abby's talents I would have fallen for them with this performance.

This book was so beautifully written. I could feel the love put into the story and the desire to tell a beloved tale from her upbringing. I will say I did get a little tired of the constant self-belittling. But I can concede it was in the story for a reason.

I wish I could have more of this story, as it kind of breaks my heart to say goodbye to the characters. I'm sure I will return to this book one day.

The narrator was amazing. You could hear the love in her voice when the two MCs talked with each other. Not much change in her voice besides from the main characters. Although I could listen to her read the phone book in Fati's voice. Probably didn't spell that right :/

I would recommend everyone who likes a bit of magic in their books, who wants to hear two women slowly fall for each other, and who has at any point had to come to terms with the religion they grew up with telling them that who they love will condemn them to give this one a shot.

It's a very sweet story. I found myself wishing I was in the story. If it had been longer I would have given it 5 stars. I lean more toward longer stories with a bit more build-up. Not a fan of time jumps even if they are small, one or two days is fine but not weeks or months.

Other than that super sweet story with a happy ending with only a little drama and tasteful sex scenes.

I ended up laughing so hard that I had tears running down my face. I would watch the hell out of this if it became a movie or a tv show. The vacuum scene had me laughing like an idiot. I'm so glad I wasn't driving at that part.

The love story is a bit rushed but you still feel like it's a natural progression. A couple of times the names ended up flipped and it's a bit hard to get used to the POV changing in the middle of a chapter. But those things are minor. Plus the narration is some of the best I've come across.

Spend the credit. It's well worth it.

It's a fun book, read beautifully by Abby Craden. The only downside is the ending was rushed in short finally chapters that left me wishing they had had more time to figure it all out. Wrapped up way too fast, felt like a cop-out. But that is truly the only downside.
