As Marat's siege engine bores through the Tower, erupting inside ringdoms and leaving chaos in its wake, Senlin can do nothing but observe the mayhem from inside the belly of the beast. Caught in a charade, Senlin desperately tries to sabotage the rampaging Hod King, even as Marat's objective grows increasingly clear. The leader of the zealots is bound for the Sphinx's lair and the unimaginable power it contains.

This was the best of the four. They are all good but Bancroft lets a little loose w the humor nd it is great.

Historia
1828. Robin Swift, orphaned by cholera in Canton, is brought to London by the mysterious Professor Lovell. There, he trains for years in Latin, Ancient Greek, and Chinese, all in preparation for the day he’ll enroll in Oxford University’s prestigious Royal Institute of Translation—also known as Babel. Babel is the world's center for translation and, more importantly, magic. Silver working—the art of manifesting the meaning lost in translation using enchanted silver bars—has made the British unparalleled in power, as its knowledge serves the Empire’s quest for colonization.

Her best book yet
Revisado: 03-24-23
THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE just incredible. The story, the writing, the characters, the nuance, they way she deals with colonial power dynamics and gender issues—all come together in a painfully clear beautiful story. Cannot recommend this more. The performance was also incredible. AMAZING!!!

Historia
In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, Blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote.

Good effort
Revisado: 02-16-20
The story was mostly cool but really focused on weird details without pulling them into the larger story. The book seems like it was written by someone very focused on the specifics of ships less the larger (and more interesting for me) social trends.
The reader had a really weird cadence and would break right before the end of a sentence which threw me off.
