Lizzie O'Malley, a 23-year-old free spirit, is on a mission to find her purpose in life. In the summer of 2000, she returns home to Boston to begin a life that she can be proud of. On her first night out on the town, tragedy strikes and she finds herself the cause of the emotional wreckage. Instead of dealing with the consequences, she loses herself in a man she met that night.

After having her sweet sixteenth birthday party ruined thanks to the birth of her newborn baby sister, Princess sees an old friend who's baby brother happened to also be born on the anniversary of his moms death. Frustrated, these two old friends decide to run away together, only to unexpectedly find themselves lost in a world that's not their own. After meeting some strange new friends, and making some even worse enemies, the two eventually find themselves forced into having to decide on whether to continue on the path that could lead home, or abandon that road for another path.
