Historia
Autumn has arrived, and the citizens of Pickax find themselves amid a clamor of activity. In addition to the opening of its latest theatrical production, the town is celebrating the dedication of a new bookstore and park built in memory of Pickax's beloved bookshop owner Edd Smith. Columnist Jim Qwilleran, participating in the festivities, is also busy with his latest book project: an account of a uniquely historic guest residence, the Hibbard House.

No ending...
Revisado: 06-30-22
When the book ended, I actually went back to see if I somehow missed the last few chapters. Its like the author got bored and just quit. at the end, Quinn sums details all the unknowns and mysteries that cropped up, but never solves ANY of them. The book just stops. Love all the other cat books, don't waste your money on this one. Guidells narration is perfect as usual.

What a wonderful story with a perfect narration. Sublime. It simply couldn't be better. Ever once in a while you find a truly great voice actor. This is one. What a treat.

Historia
It is 1872, and a series of gruesome murders is the talk of London. Mycroft Holmes - now 26 and a force to be reckoned with at the War Office - has no interest in the killings; however his brother Sherlock has developed a distasteful fascination for the macabre to the detriment of his studies, much to Mycroft's frustration. When a ship carrying cargo belonging to Mycroft's best friend Cyrus Douglas runs aground, Mycroft persuades Sherlock to serve as a tutor at the orphanage that Douglas runs as a charity, so that Douglas might travel to see what can be salvaged.

Historia
Sherlock Holmes is an unparalleled genius who uses the gift of deduction and reason to solve the most vexing of crimes. Warlock Holmes, however, is an idiot. A good man, perhaps; a font of arcane power, certainly. But he’s brilliantly dim. Frankly, he couldn’t deduce his way out of a paper bag. The only things he has really got going for him are the might of a thousand demons and his stalwart flatmate. Thankfully, Dr. Watson is always there to aid him through the treacherous shoals of Victorian propriety...

Funny and clever twists on the canonical stories. Goofy like an Austin powers movie, at first it seems too silly but that's the hook. Very, very good narration.

liked the other 3 with 5 star ratings, this one...Robin is the worst operative ever. I lost count how many times she was caught eavesdropping, planting bugs, forever getting startled, not seeing a guy sitting in a chair when bugging the room, etc. But in the final analysis, still a good story and worth the price of admission. Narrator is perfect.

Weaker than others.
Revisado: 10-28-17
Same old premise, God bad and brings war and suffering, atheist good. Yea.. those religious people like Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Pol pot, etc etc. you can't just skip over that stuff. got better in th he middle and I did enjoy the A.I. Winston character as s sort of virtual Dr. Watson type of assistant. That was pretty original. As with all Dan Brown books, they start off more preachy than a Nazarene pastor in the beginning, and then moderate a LITTLE in the last quarter. worth the 20 bucks I guess... I think The bones were there but It could have been edited better to smooth out some for th e more sophomoric story lines. Great narrator though.

Horrible
Revisado: 08-17-16
I can't believe how crappy this book was. Implausible story lines, dumb scientists freezing up and constantly panicked, (except for one that found time to search the internet which was still working after half in USA was nuked, to find a picture on the Delta force leaders mommy so he could blubber over it one more time. You can tell the writer has no military or science experience.

Historia
Helene Wecker's dazzling debut novel tells the story of two supernatural creatures who appear mysteriously in 1899 New York. Chava is a golem, a creature made of clay, brought to life by a strange man who dabbles in dark Kabbalistic magic. When her master dies at sea on the voyage from Poland, she is unmoored and adrift as the ship arrives in New York Harbor. Ahmad is a jinni, a being of fire, born in the ancient Syrian Desert. Trapped in an old copper flask by a Bedouin wizard centuries ago, he is released accidentally by a tinsmith in a Lower Manhattan shop.
