The author mispronounced several words. It was a distraction. The story deserves more diligence than it was given. Also, not having chapter names, made it hard to move back-and-forth.

It’s clear from the story examples that the Moth has clearly adopted a left leaning political world view. That is certainly their prerogative, but at some point you realize your stories would never make it to the state.

The beeps were just dumb.

I misread how “good” would weave throughout the book

I was hoping this book would have guided me through leveraging entrepreneurial processes to “do good”. As in solve a societal need, for example.

It read as a story of a very successful entrepreneur that made some cash, then reflectively redefined his life and purpose. I found the examples to be somewhat pretentious (eg speeding in a Porsche, reflecting over a month of vacation in Montana and Alaska, homes in Vail, etc).

Being a principled entrepreneur and making money while doing so is not a bad thing. The book will deliver if that’s what you’re looking. I was not.

More than ever, we need hope today

I wish this book actually came out before the pandemic. One thing that is very evident right now is that we have lost any sense of hope in our lives. Additionally our fear of death dominates our thinking today. Dr Hahn’s ability to elevate dying in a state of grace to a hopeful event is a core element of what’s missing in order to live a joyful life. Run on sentence alert.... Reading this book can put us all back on a path to a deeper understanding of aligning our suffering and death to Christ’s, leading joy in His and our resurrection.

Best part of this book is the reference link to helpful sites and products. The combination of the writing style and the narrator resulted in the content feeling like it was written/read for a 12 yo. The author presents an overly optimistic view with little more than a review of past history and conjecture. Most other points are a rehash of what everyone else is talking about. It caught me off guard the number of times “anyways” was used in this book.

Good framework spoiled by the examples

Thought her framework for reinvention was strong. You will need to fill in the gaps with content from the likes of Ken Robinson. The biggest annoyance was the examples which were delivered as a passive aggressive way to advertise liberal causes the author believed in and fawn over progressive political candidate. One would be more confident in the example material if the worldview of the author was broader.

Much less detailed than the epic tombs from Foote and McPherson, and Catton himself. This is a great macro level overview of the war but I found his more interpretive discussions of the soldier and post war attitude also compelling. The story he weaved was much less technical than other authors.

Any additional comments?

This book is dangerous to anyone who values their faith as it pulls the reader in to thinking this is grounded in authentic religion and drifts dangerously to "Spirituality", Secularism, New Age, etc. Christians be warned - this book will infuriate you.
