Revisado: 04-13-25
Tell No One starts very strong. It’s easy to listen to, fast-paced, twisty, and just thoroughly enjoyable. I finished most of this audiobook in a day.

Historia
When Victoria was born, in 1819, the world was a very different place. Revolution would threaten many of Europe’s monarchies in the coming decades. In Britain, a generation of royals had indulged their whims at the public’s expense, and republican sentiment was growing. The Industrial Revolution was transforming the landscape, and the British Empire was commanding ever larger tracts of the globe. In a world where women were often powerless, during a century roiling with change, Victoria went on to rule the most powerful country on earth with a decisive hand.

This was my first biography of Victoria. What a great glimpse into her personal and public lives. This audiobook is well done.

Historia
What if intimacy with God doesn't begin with us knocking at God's door but with God knocking down ours? In Learning to Be Loved, author and Spoken Gospel CEO David Bowden and Hobby Lobby's Mart Green remind us that spiritual growth starts not with our giving but with our receiving. Learning to Be Loved unites biblical rigor and personal experience to show that intimacy with God isn't based on our ability to connect with him—but on all the ways he is constantly connecting with us.

Great Insight
Revisado: 11-18-24
This concept of God’s love for me has always perplexed me. Bowden helped me to understand God’s love. I’m still not there yet. This is one of those books that’s so rich with insight that I have to read it again and again.

Solène Marchand, the thirty-nine-year-old owner of an art gallery in Los Angeles, is reluctant to take her daughter, Isabelle, to meet her favorite boy band. What begins as a series of clandestine trysts quickly evolves into a passionate relationship.

Robinne Lee
Revisado: 07-11-24
I have a fantasy of being as good a voice actor as the people I listen to. I’m nowhere near as talented as the best of them. And that includes Robinne Lee. Who writes AND voices their own novels? As a voice talent and producer of radio commercials, I’m in awe of her talent.
As far as the novel goes, I thought the characters were well defined. The story was plausible and intriguing. Honestly, when I chose this audiobook, I was expecting a quick, light read (or listen). But before long, I found myself engrossed. I usually listen to Mark Greaney, Lee Child, or John Grisham books. This if far from those authors. But the story was no less compelling and interesting. I would go as far to say the characters are far more memorable than most.
Definitely worth a listen. I might watch the movie too.

Historia
A soldier, former member of Congress, and a presidential candidate, Tulsi loves her country: "I answered the call of duty and took an oath, dedicating my life to supporting and defending those freedoms, both in uniform and in public office. I became a Democrat when I ran for office because I saw them as a party that stood up for the little guy and against the interests of big business and warmongers. I remained a Democrat for twenty years, albeit with an independent streak." Today that party is unrecognizable.

Tulsi’s Heart
Revisado: 06-29-24
I believe I just heard from the heart of Tulsi Gabbard. There’s honesty and truth in this audiobook. Sometimes the truth is ugly. She argues we need to fight against the ugly things that threaten our democracy, our country. We need to strip away the politics and get back to the foundations that this great country was founded upon. Excellent book!

Historia
In 1848, a year of international democratic revolt, a young, enslaved couple, Ellen and William Craft, achieved one of the boldest feats of self-emancipation in American history. Posing as master and slave, while sustained by their love as husband and wife, they made their escape together across more than 1,000 miles, riding out in the open on steamboats, carriages, and trains that took them from bondage in Georgia to the free states of the North.

Incredible
Revisado: 04-10-24
I’ve never really delved into a personal account of slavery. Watching “Roots” on TV was the extent of it. This brought me close to the Crafts. I found their story incredible, amazing, and triumphant. But the backdrop of slavery casts such a profound pall on the region and our nation. MSHW is a must-read/listen.

Whether it's her work today as a reporter and host for Fox News or the time she spent competing in pageants like Miss America, Shannon Bream has spent her adult life navigating high-pressure environments where perfection is expected and competition is the name of the game. But in this laugh-out-loud book of stories and inspiration, Shannon shares the moments away from the cameras and the halls of government, in which she learned that the values and faith of her blue-collar upbringing could keep her grounded in a world where everyone wants you to be something other than who you are.

Tense story performed beautifully by Joanne Froggatt. I was a bit thrown off by the ending. But the tension holds up well throughout the book.

Historia
Never in history, until now, have we been able to hear from so many people around the world who have been brought back from clinical death. Modern medical resuscitation and digital communication have revealed a goldmine of intriguing near-death experiences (NDEs) that show us the character of God. John Burke has spent the last three decades studying the commonalities of more than 1000 NDEs. His investigative journey started as a skeptical agnostic, when his own father was dying from cancer.

Picturing Heaven
Revisado: 02-16-24
I’m excited at the prospect of going to heaven. I loved that people of all faiths all saw Jesus. And they just knew Him.
I like the organization of the book. Scripture is woven in between the NDE stories.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

The Performance
Revisado: 01-06-24
I loved Ray Porter’s portrayal of Ryland Grace was fantastic. The story reminded me of Weir’s The Martian. That’s a movie we watch any and every time it’s on. But I thought PHM got a little bogged down in the science. I know it sounds weird to say that about a sci-fi adventure. But hey, I thought it got in the way more than advance the narrative. Still, I enjoyed it.
