Revisado: 02-25-23
I enjoyed this SO much! Mr. Ruff stayed true to his style and didn’t mess with the original story. The narrator is exceptional!!! I’m so glad he’s narrating this one, because I really enjoyed his work on Lovecraft Country. Fans of LCC won’t be disappointed.

This was SO bad!!!
Revisado: 10-19-22
It’s just a REALLY ridiculous plot. Unbelievable and silly. None of the characters are likable, save for 1, maybe 2. I almost gave up, but had to find out if it could possibly get better. It did not.

Could/should have been 75% shorter
Revisado: 08-31-22
I love a great, long audiobook. This one, however was needlessly long and drawn out, lacking an insufficient interesting (enough) plot to justify the number of hours. I hung in there, hoping the story would get interesting. It didn’t. With 35 minutes remaining, I just KNEW the ending would be worth it. It wasn’t.

Great content & well researched subject matter
Revisado: 08-10-22
Excellent story! In depth and well written. Nothing like the Netflix movie which was very “Disney” like. This is the real, true story of a phenomenal human being. My only wish is that the Author had hired a professional narrator. Her reading was OK but entirely too dramatic. Emphasis on random words/phrases made it border on a comical reading. Still, I highly recommend it.

Great story! PHENOMENAL narrator!
Revisado: 03-14-22
I am so glad this book popped up in my Audible feed. It was SO GOOD! It's gritty, well written and captivating story. The narration by Ms. Tom Taylorson is so well done! I stopped to check how many different people were narrating and I was shocked to find that it was just one! Brilliant! I love a good series and I can't wait to begin the next one. Oh, yes, the "N Word" does pop up a couple of times, but it's not done gratuitously. It's in keeping with the characters who are too ignorant, uneducated and/or racist to know otherwise. Excellent book!

The author is super talented & the narrator is fantastic. If you think you know all there is to know about Cleopatra, you may very well be surprised. The author acknowledges which elements were added for drama and continuity & which details are based on historical documents. An excellent listen that never gets boring

Very Different From Series... In A Great Way
Revisado: 12-19-20
I recently rewatched the entire 8 seasons of Dexter. I first watched it “live” and loved it. I immediately read all the books (hard copy) and remember enjoying them. I also recall that they were quite different from the series. I couldn’t remember why/how they were different, so I was excited to listen to them.
When I saw that they were narrated by the author, I was hesitant, because I thought it would be weird not to hear TV Dexter’s voice. This was actually the best part about the audiobook: TV Dexter and book Dexter are, for me, 2 completely different people.
If you’re a fan of the series, keep in mind that the story lines and characters in the book are vastly different. Just enjoy it for what it is: great writing, excellent narration and a fantastical grizzly listen.

Incredibly GOOD!
Revisado: 04-30-20
I am a true zombie, apocalypse horror book/movie fan. This is one of the best zombie books I have ever listened to! I'd never heard of it before and I was ELATED to see that there was a 143 hour audio book (it's actually 12 books) available for one credit. I was thinking "It's probably not going to be very good". I was wrong! A lot of the concepts are unique & ones that I've never seen/heard before in the zombie genre. I think my favorite thing about this book is that there are no superstars, no real main characters. I thought that this would mean I would have trouble keeping up/remembering who the characters were, but this is not the case. You get to know the characters and you'll remember them... but, be warned: NO ONE IS SAFE! Excellent writing and narration. I highly recommend this book! WARNING: There are a lot of graphic rapes described throughout this book.

Rip off
Revisado: 02-25-20
This should have been a two for one, that includes this as well as Violets are Blue. I'm a little over this series... but I have to find out what happens next, so I'm in for another credit. If you decide to buy this, known advance it ends with a cliff hanger that will make you "have" to get the next one in the series. Honestly, it was pretty lame, I did order Violets are Blue and ended up returning it. I am officially done with Alex Cross.
