Historia
Windy Corner is being remodeled into a writers' retreat. Two of the young workers, Jake and Roman, are showing too much of the wrong kind of interest in Katie, Emily's young single-mother housekeeper. It's a stormy autumn and Emily is reading Wuthering Heights. Roman, a dark and brooding type, reminds her of Heathcliff. At a Halloween murder mystery fundraiser at Windy Corner, someone is found stabbed to death. Windy Corner's very own detective, Luke, is reluctantly forced to investigate Katie.

Fine but EEEK

I think the mystery itself was way too easy to guess, but I can get over it due to my love of the cozy mystery genre. But what I struggled to get past was Hyde’s depiction of the gay couple as “sinners in need of forgiveness”. Yikes.

Historia
Retired publisher Susan Ryeland is living the good life. She is running a small hotel on a Greek island with her long-term boyfriend Andreas. It should be everything she's always wanted. But is it? She's exhausted with the responsibilities of making everything work on an island where nothing ever does, and truth be told, she's beginning to miss London. And then the Trehearnes come to stay. The strange story they tell about an unfortunate murder that took place on the same day and in the same hotel in which their daughter was married fascinates Susan and piques her editor's instincts.

Story vs Frame
Revisado: 11-17-20
I really loved this book and I really love Anthony Horowitz. Magpie Murders was amazing, and the same mood permeated this book, but I felt like the repeat of the “Atticus Punt solving a crime solves a real life crime” frame was a little too forced. In Magpie Murders it felt new, refreshing, and almost revolutionary but here the Punt book was very limited in Susan’s solving of the case. The book was still fun and the mystery was thrilling with a great resolution, but I do wish the story within a story had been limited.

Historia
As the daughter of a drug dealer, Wavy knows not to trust people, not even her own parents. It's safer to keep her mouth shut and stay out of sight. Struggling to raise her little brother, Donal, eight-year-old Wavy is the only responsible adult around. Obsessed with the constellations, she finds peace in the starry night sky above the fields behind her house until one night her stargazing causes an accident. After witnessing his motorcycle wreck, she forms an unusual friendship with one of her father's thugs, Kellen, a tattooed ex-con with a heart of gold.

I really liked the book. It was amazing. Until the pedophilia. Specifically, the romanticizing of pedophilia. It’s not wonderful. It’s just ugly.
