If it’s navel-gazing you’re after, you’ve come to the wrong place; ditto treacly self-examination. Rather, his observations turn outward: a fight between two men on a bus, a fight between two men on the street, pedestrians being whacked over the head or gathering to watch as a man considers leaping to his death. There’s a dirty joke shared at a book signing, then a dirtier one told at a dinner party - lots of jokes here. Plenty of laughs.

Half is good, half is salty disappointment

I wanted to give the narration by Tracey Ullman a chance, despite reading all the bad reviews... I was curious to experience the authors creative vision with her reading. But, it felt like going to visit my beloved uncle and being greeted by a stranger he's hired to host you for the holidays. I didn't realize how attached to Sedaris's narrationI was until I my ears puckered like slugs poured over by salt as Ullman took over! NO! I love the Sedaris narrated ones, though, give me that familiar joy.

I have learned so much from David. In this book he boils down hugely helpful concepts of healing into really useful guidance. He shares his personal experience as a healer, and gives examples from his private client practice. It’s helpful both for personal healing journey, and for aspiring healers.
