Historia
Texas Ranger Darren Mathews isn’t sure he’s been a good cop, but believes he’s got a shot at being a good man—if he manages to dodge the potential indictment hanging over his head and if he, from here on out, pledges allegiance to the truth. It’s a virtue the country appears to have wholly lost its grip on, but one Darren sees as his salvation. He is in the midst of remaking his life with the woman he loves when he is visited by his mother armed with a tall tale about a missing Black college student, Sera (whose white sorority sisters insist she isn’t missing at all).

Slow start but intriguing story
Revisado: 09-10-24
I’ve listened to all Locke’s books, enjoyed the continuing stories and looked forward to this release. This story started slowly and the narration pace was even slower. I rarely change the narration speed on books but had to speed it up a bit on this one. Decent story.

Perfect melding of story and narration
Revisado: 03-09-24
Tana French created another wonderful story brought to life by a superb narrator. It contained enough action to avoid being a “talkie”, but my, what conversation between characters who never say exactly what they mean, but always have a direct message to convey.

When Captain Kyle Mercer of the Army’s elite Delta Force disappeared from his post in Afghanistan, a video released by his Taliban captors made international headlines. But circumstances were murky: Did Mercer desert before he was captured? Then a second video sent to Mercer’s Army commanders leaves no doubt: The trained assassin and keeper of classified Army intelligence has disappeared.

One of DeMill’s best
Revisado: 10-25-19
I’ve always looked forward to each new DeMill and Brick release and this is at the top of my favorites. It’s reminiscent of Up Country with a more contemporary spin. I enjoyed this collaboration between Nelson DeMille and his son - it put a more contemporary spin on the story. Scott Brick delivered another winner.

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Excellent and worth the wait
Revisado: 10-08-16
The story drew me in quickly, and offered good twists. As always, the language, dialog and slang are fresh and enjoyable. The narration added to the chapters' personalities and clearly identified which character was speaking making conversations fun to follow. Tana French is one of Audible's top writers. Can't wait for her next book.

Very good performance and story lines!
Revisado: 03-30-15
GG is one of the best narrators ever! I often select books based upon his participation in the piece of work.
The plot narrative begins with magic, a master detective, and murder. I was hooked from the very beginning. Rhymes is a model detective for actors such as Denzel Washington and Raymond Burr, two of the best.
Buy this book; you'll be entertained for hours!

Historia
Meet Jonathan Quinn: a freelance operative with a take-no-prisoners style and the heart of a loner. His job? Professional "cleaner". Nothing too violent, just disposing of bodies. But his latest assignment will change everything. The job seemed simple enough: investigating a suspicious case of arson. But when a dead body turns up, and Quinn's handlers at "the Office" turn strangely silent, he knows he's in over his head. With only a handful of clues, Quinn struggles to find out why someone wants him dead.

"Quinn" is a terrific series!
Revisado: 02-19-15
Well, I'm sorry that I didn't discover this series sooner. Jonathan Quinn is a terrific character - and I'm surprised this character hasn't made the leap to the big screen. Although the dialogue is well constructed and witty, I love the things that the characters DO NOT say. I think this makes for much more realism and believability.
I recommend this series to other fans of the spy-thriller genre.

Avatar Redux!
Revisado: 02-17-15
Mr. Scalzi wrote an very personalized and thought-provoking story using the intriguing concept of avatars in the physical world. Once I began listening, I was compelled to finish. This is an entertaining book with a straight forward murder mystery. But, the witty dialogue and nefarious motives kept this listener wanting more!
I highly recommend this book to science fiction fans and those who just wish they could be in a different body for a day.
