A Delightfully Addictive Tale

I love how Andrew Peterson spins a wholesome tale with profound wisdom woven into the lyrical, the humorous and the unexpected.
Even though the series was written for children, at 67 yrs of age I find it delightfully addicting! At first I was captivated by the animated Wingfeather Saga Series available on the Angel Studios app. It’s so much fun! But the BOOKS! They change it up to a deeper dimension and a higher level all at the same time! I think that every child should have the privilege of either having the Wngfeather Saga read to them, or of reading it themselves!

A Fresh Perspective on the Bible!

Love hearing this Bible designed specifically for audio consumption!
This easy to follow paraphrase with it’s familiar language and it’s fresh perspective keeps me attentive to passages that have otherwise lost their “sparkle” due to “overfamiliarity”!
It’s fun to compare and contrast what I’ve memorized with this charming paraphrase!

Well crafted overview of mythic culture in Bible times!
Gilgamesh is a heartless tyrant of a King who has his perspective changed by a “Wildborn”; a Tarzan-like fellow (only with a Lot more hair!). The heroics are fast moving and relentless as they face impossible odds together and conquer incredible foes of Biblical and mythical proportion.
Why does the ancient writing “The Epic of Gilgamesh “ have so much in common with the early chapters of Genesis?
In an appendix Brian Godawa explains the sources and concepts behind his well crafted and well acted out tale.
The kindle version is better suited for young readers. The audio version has more sexual content.
After reading while listening to this exciting tale, I understand more about the Bible’s use of Rahab the sea monster, and Leviathan, and also about Ishtar and the “sons of god” who were assigned to rule over the various nations.
...a painless study in the mythology that was well known during Bible times!

We love Jason Alexander’s rendering of this rollicking, winsome tale!
Our daughter may be 20 yrs old now, but her “special needs” permit her to see with the eyes of a child and she still Loves this book!

A Morning Cup of “Joe” for the Spirit!

At first I was put off a bit by words being put into the mouth of the Savior, as if He were speaking directly to me, but as I noted the wild popularity of the book and listened closely, the solace and encouragement spoken resonated beautifully within my heart. The short scripture verses that follow are great to think about thru the day and they solidly enforce the spoken theme. The closing wrap-up prayer suggestion given by a gentle but clear female voice is a nice touch and adds variety as it follows the gentle, masculine “voice of Jesus”.
Now I understand why it is so popular and I delight in listening daily.
It really helps me keep my focus on what God thinks and is doing around me.

An Important Part of our Family Heritage!

My wonderful and very devout Mother gave me a copy of this book, as well as to each of my 9 siblings, and any of the grandchildren who showed an interest. She and my Dad would have devotions together using this book and she wanted the whole family, near and far to be able to read and meditate on the same verses together. It was a way of building unity amongst us as well as “handing the baton” of Scriptural promises down to the next generation.
Now that Mom has gone on to her Heavenly reward, I cherish every selfless thing she has done for me even more.
To me this book is a “Family Treasure “. Finding it as an audiobook is positively a Delight!
I can listen while I’m cooking or sewing, or cleaning. Even if my eyes are tired at night and the lights are out, I can enjoy my verses!
