Historia
Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times best sellers including Talking to Strangers and host of the podcast Revisionist History, uses original interviews, archival footage, and his trademark insight to weave together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in Central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard. As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

Historia
Joshua Rubenstein's riveting account takes us back to the second half of 1952, when no one could foresee an end to Joseph Stalin's murderous regime. He was poised to challenge the newly elected US president Dwight Eisenhower with armed force and was also broadening a vicious campaign against Soviet Jews. Stalin's sudden collapse and death in March 1953 was as dramatic and mysterious as his life. It is no overstatement to say that his passing marked a major turning point in the 20th century.

Historia
The Fifties is a sweeping social, political, economic, and cultural history of the 10 years that Halberstam regards as seminal in determining what our nation is today. Halberstam offers portraits of not only the titans of the age: Eisenhower, Dulles, Oppenheimer, MacArthur, Hoover, and Nixon; but also of Harley Earl, who put fins on cars; Dick and Mac McDonald and Ray Kroc, who mass-produced the American hamburger; Kemmons Wilson, who placed his Holiday Inns along the nation's roadsides; and more.

Historia
From the New York Times best-selling author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics, The Order of Time, and Helgoland, a closer look at the mind-bending nature of the Universe. What are the elementary ingredients of the world? Do time and space exist? And what exactly is reality? Theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli has spent his life exploring these questions. He tells us how our understanding of reality has changed over the centuries and how physicists think about the structure of the Universe today.

An excursion through the cosmos starting from the limits of small to “ infinity” of spacetime. Very easy to listen to Dr Rovelli makes the most abstruse concepts within the grasp of an educated layman

Where is the horror?

By today’s standards , I found this book to be rather lame in inducing a feeling of horror. There are moments, but overall rather lame

Historia
Using portraits of America’s flawed policy makers and accounts of the forces that drove them, The Best and the Brightest reckons magnificently with the most important abiding question of our country’s recent history: Why did America become mired in Vietnam, and why did we lose? As the definitive single-volume answer to that question, this enthralling book has never been superseded. It is an American classic.

I could not keep my ears away from this book
Revisado: 07-16-17
Having been of draft age during the war i and my generation were saddened and disgusted by our country's increasing decline into a maelstrom from which it could not seem to emerge. The frustration we felt was at the burning core of the social unrest of the 60's.
With this book, which i started reading in college, the historical fault lines and the tensions upon the key actors is now put into its proper perspective. This book is Halberstam's magnum opus.
I highly recommend to listeners his book THE COLDEST WAR which was written long after THE BEST AND THE BRIGHTESTMany of thesame forces were at work both in Korea and Viet Nam

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Inspiration Action Patriotism
Revisado: 05-07-15
I would have thought that the description of the Navy Seal training program would have been enough to make a fascinating story.it shows what determination is needed to make the cut to be the best of the best warriors in the world. The book then transitions to the epic battle that was endured by epic soldiers. My one cavil with this book is that it seems almost unbelievable that anyone could really have survived what happened that night. It seems like a page out of a GI Joe storyboard.
The last chapters almost bring tears one's eyes. Tears of sadness interleaved with tears of pride.
The narration is truly a memorable performance.
