The series continues to be great
Revisado: 08-30-24
So, hopefully you’ve read all the books up to this point in the series. But the great thing about this series is even if you drop in at a random spot the plot still makes sense. These books aren’t just good sci-fi they help you look at the world with clear eyes and humor. They make you think while still letting you escape. Pragmatic but optimistic.
Our favorite characters are all together trying to figure out how to train the next generation to hopefully change the system or at least how people think of it.

In an incisive, thorough analysis of the current international situation, Noam Chomsky argues that the United States, through its military-first policies and its unstinting devotion to maintaining a world-spanning empire, is both risking catastrophe and wrecking the global commons.

Clarity, compassion and condemnation
Revisado: 07-01-24
For a long time I thought that US foreign policy was confusing and thought the issue was my understanding of those other cultures. After this book I will be more deeply examining my understanding of the United States’ internal culture and the actions we have taken both historically and today. Stripping away propaganda and simply focusing on actions and results of nations’ policies over the last hundred years or so Chomsky gives a clarity to the current state of the world I had not found from other sources. At times funny but almost entirely heartbreaking this book makes the world make disturbingly common sense in a time where conspiracy theories and propaganda run rampant.

Approachable but not too simple
Revisado: 06-14-24
This book was originally introduced to me in school and I’m so glad that teacher made the choice instead of a traditional text book. This book covers the basics not with over simplified theoretical examples but with the meat and deeply complex real world examples of some of the most important economic events and quandaries we have today.

Intelligent and eye opening
Revisado: 06-06-24
An intelligent but approachable series of interviews. I understood each individual word yet felt out of my depth at the implications of what was being said and the details I wanted to look up. This book made me want to go back to school and spend hours researching events that happened when I was too young to see the layers of nuance Chomsky highlights. Conversations that are complex rather than reductive. This was not the book I expected it to be. It was vastly better.
