Good story, kept me interested
Revisado: 06-22-16
If you could sum up Sheepfarmer's Daughter in three words, what would they be?
Steady forward movement
What did you like best about this story?
The protagonists were good people, the bad guys were very bad. The story kept me interested throughout, to know what would happen. While it didn't have big surprises, I still enjoyed the escapades of Paks, and plan to get the next one.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Speak naturally. Her pauses were in the wrong places, putting emphasis where it needn't be.

I couldn't listen to much of it. I had to turn it off. Too gruesome!

There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack - who has already killed Bod's family…

One of my Favorite Books ever
Revisado: 07-16-15
Any additional comments?
Written with Neil Gaiman's typical charm and wit, this book had me entranced the entire way through. Gaiman created a believable world that I wanted to be part of, as fantastical as it was. The characters were fully-fleshed out, most of them being people I would like to hang with, even if they ARE dead. This is a book I can listen to again, and again!

On the outer banks of the Carolinas in 1941, fishermen and a few lonely sailors constitute the human population. Dominating the rough yet beautiful landscape is the majestic Killakeet Lighthouse, run for generations by the Thurlow family. But Josh Thurlow, the lighthouse keeper's son, has forsworn his heritage to become the commander of a small Coast Guard patrol boat. Tortured by twenty years of guilt for losing his brother at sea, Josh still searches for him.

Very entertaining
Revisado: 01-17-06
This was my first Homer Hickam book, and I found it utterly charming. I, too, spend a lot of time in North Carolina's Outer Banks, on a beach with wild horses, so I was particularly attracted by the story line. I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining the book was. The characters were well developed and endearing; I like a book where you love the good guys and hate the bad guys. I didn't find the narration distracting at all, in fact, it seemed to add to the atmosphere of the story. I found myself reluctant to stop listening, and thinking about it when I wasn't listening to it. I will highly recommend this one to my friends!
