Historia
Drew Marshall may have let me move into his spare bedroom while my house is being renovated, but don’t think for one second his kindness comes without strings - big, ugly fake-relationship strings. That’s okay, though, Dr. Andrew. I’ll agree to your terms, move into your house, and act like your girlfriend when the big day comes, but I also plan to make your life miserable - make you pay for what you did to me. I may not be good at forgiving or forgetting, but I’m excellent at getting even.

Boring and overly dramatic
Revisado: 03-12-25
Might be the narrator, but a fun beach read it is not. Just want a little more depth to the story, the characters are hard to like.

Historia
As the child of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler, Margo Millet's always known she’d have to make it on her own. So she enrolls at her local junior college, even though she can’t imagine how she’ll ever make a living. She’s still figuring things out and never planned to have an affair with her English professor—and while the affair is brief, it isn’t brief enough to keep her from getting pregnant. Despite everyone’s advice, she decides to keep the baby, mostly out of naiveté and a yearning for something bigger.

Don’t get your expectations too high and you’ll be fine. Lots to love, cringe and scoff at, but by far just basic entertainment.

Historia
Emmy Harper is no stranger to Hollywood, having penned some of the most popular movies of the past few years. But her latest project has hit a standstill—unable to find the perfect leading lady, Emmy’s been recruited to take on the role herself, dusting off acting skills she hasn’t used in over a decade. Things take a turn for the worse when a she's left with the one costar she can’t trust: Grayson West. A blockbuster action hero known for his megawatt smile and impossible abs, Grayson is anyone’s dream of a romantic lead.

over zealous, yelling constantly narrator
Revisado: 04-06-24
The story was what you expect when choosing books in the genre and I enjoyed it. The narrator screaming ever line was so grating I almost quit the book. It was just so dramatic at such a high and consistent level that my brain could not get a break. The whiny and moaning voice she used for everything just made it difficult to like the character. I wanted her to get some dignity and talk like an adult to herself and others. I’ll try another book by this author, but definitely need to look at who the narrator is first.

Historia
Mia, the irreverent, hyperanalytical twenty-year-old daughter, has an explanation for everything—which is why she isn’t initially concerned when her father and younger brother Eugene don’t return from a walk in a nearby park. They must have lost their phone. Or stopped for an errand somewhere. But by the time Mia’s brother runs through the front door bloody and alone, it becomes clear that the father in this tight-knit family is missing and the only witness is Eugene, who has the rare genetic condition Angelman syndrome and cannot speak.

Love/hate relationship
Revisado: 10-08-23
I loved the twists and turns and that predicting the outcome didn’t just become immediately evident… but omg every thought and side thought and probability discussed for each and every second of the story was so PAINFUL. I’m struggling just to finish the last 30 minutes.

Not my favorite from this author
Revisado: 03-30-21
I love many of Lisa Jewel’s books-but this one was a struggle to get through. It was just so slow and spent so much tine going nowhere. Just a miss for me.
