Perfect Level of Detail
Revisado: 04-09-24
It was technical and detailed enough to keep me interested (although I already have an interest in cars and motorsports), but not so jargon-filled as to leave the uninitiated bored or lost.

Just Scratching the Surface of the IC
Revisado: 07-11-22
This was very informative, and helped me to at least get a baseline understanding of the IC and what they are looking for. The narrator pronounced some words in ways that were weird to me, but had a clear voice that was easy to understand, so it didn't inhibit the reading in any noticeable way.

Historia
In the predawn hours of March 4, 2002, just below the 10,000-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a fierce battle raged. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a handful of SEALs struggled to take the summit in a desperate bid to find a lost teammate. Chapman, leading the charge, was gravely wounded in the initial assault. Believing he was dead, his SEAL leader ordered a retreat. Chapman regained consciousness, alone with the enemy closing in on three sides, beginning the most difficult and exceptional fight of his life.

Incredible Storytelling for an Incredible Story
Revisado: 01-19-20
The narrator does a fantastic job of telling this story and making an already compelling book into a truly captivating journey. If you enjoy military nonfiction, then this is a must-read (or listen, in this case)!

Historia
Raw, straightforward, and powerful, Ed Kugler's account of his two years as a Marine scout-sniper in Vietnam vividly captures his experiences there - the good, the bad, and the ugly. After enlisting in the Marines at 17, then being wounded in Santo Domingo during the Dominican crisis, Kugler arrived in Vietnam in early 1966. As a new sniper with the 4th Marines, Kugler picked up bush skills while attached to 3d Force Recon Company, and then joined the grunts.

Outstanding Work
Revisado: 11-09-19
The story itself was fantastic, and as a soldier who spent time in the Middle East working with our allies over there, parts about the ARVNs were very relatable, as well as when describing the politics of the war.
The narrator did a fantastic job conveying the emotions felt by the author, and did everything just right.

Loved it, apart from some tactical annoyances
Revisado: 08-21-19
Overall, a great story that kept me rooting for Jack Ryan the whole way through.
My only issue is that Tom Clancy seems to really underestimate the firepower, special equipment, and training of FBI special agents and the military. Not to mention how training reduces the reaction time for reacting to contact. It felt like oftentimes the bad guys mowed down several agents in the span of the two or so seconds it takes a trained person to draw their weapon and return fire.
Still, as I said though, I loved the story. Scott Brick did a great job giving each character their own personality.
