But something about this mission doesn't seem right to Robie, and he does the unthinkable: He refuses to kill. Now, Robie becomes a target himself and must escape from his own people.

Revisado: 04-29-12
So awful, just awfully awful. I have listened to a couple of Baldacci's books in the past and thought they were pretty good. If this was his first effort, he never would have been published. Don't waste your credit on this bush league pile of........

Historia
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

Really Very Good, Mostly!!!!
Revisado: 01-31-12
This is actually quite an inspirational book. I have listened to quite a few “Self Help” selections, specifically in the business genre. The problem with 99% of these books is they try to change what is an introverted individual into an extrovert individual. Cain reveals that this is, for the most part, impossible. If you are an introvert you can only fake being an extrovert. It is like trying to change a homosexual into a heterosexual. They could possibly fake it but you can’t change the nature of the beast. She makes a convincing argument that not only is introversion normal but in many ways an asset. She lists many ways to deal with introversion in today’s extroverted business climate and world in general.
The narrator is the best female narrator that I have ever listened to. I have many hundreds of books in my Audible collections but for some reason I have never cared for female narrators. Mazur has changed that. As with some of my favorite narrators, I will specifically search for selections that she has done. She is that good!
Now the bad part for me; maybe not you. All of Cain’s heroes in modern day life are liberals. She gushes on and on about Al Gore, Barbara Streisand, President Obama and a host of many people that I have severe disdain for. I understand that it is her book and she can slant it as she wishes but considering the subject matter it was unnecessary. If you are politically conservative this leftist lean is annoying but if you think you would be interested in the subject matter this is still a must get selection.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Left leaning King, writes a balanced page turner.
Revisado: 11-13-11
I have been an Audible listener since 2005 with over 300 titles in my library. A third of those 300 titles were never finished including one of King’s novels. If a story doesn’t grab me, I have a hard time hanging in there and finishing. This one grabbed me as only about 1 in 50 does. It is a well crafted tale that is very hard to put down.
There is a lot of praise in other reviews for Wasson as the narrator and I think he did a good job. My only criticism is that I thought he might have been miscast. The protagonist is supposed to be a man in his mid to late thirties in most of the novel. Wasson has the voice of a 60 or 70 year old and the dichotomy bugged me throughout the story.
I almost didn’t get this selection because King’s previous novels have a decidedly leftist lean. Though there were shades of this in the novel, it wasn’t over the top. Indeed, some of the concepts were of a conservative lean. For the most part this novel was very balanced politically.
If you are looking for an engaging novel that will dominate your free time for the next week or two, this is it. Nicely done Mr. King!

Jesus!!!, Can That Guy Play!
Revisado: 08-20-11
If you’re an avid golfer and understand the importance of the mental game then buy this audio book and listen until you get to the 7th day. Until that point the book lays out some useful material and helps you put the game into prospective. It puts forth some tangible techniques for the mental game mixed with a charming story. Now you should continue with the 7th day if you are a born again Christian or if you feel the need to be saved. The rest of the book is boundless preaching to help you find your way to Jesus. If you are of that mind then you will enjoy this book until the end; if you are not but have a thirst for the mental side of the game then the book is worth your time. The narrator is not a very good. I think he is new; this is the only book he has done on Audible and it shows. Minus 2 for the narrator and minus 1 for the 7th day; 3 stars.

Mindset is one of those rare audio books that can help you make positive changes in your life and at the same time see the world in a new way. A leading expert in motivation and personality psychology, Carol Dweck has discovered in more than 20 years of research that our mindset is not a minor personality quirk: it creates our whole mental world. It explains how we become optimistic or pessimistic. It shapes our goals, our attitude toward work, and ultimately predicts whether or not we will fulfull our potential.

See got Columbine Wrong!
Revisado: 11-30-10
I think this text is insightful and well gone. What gets me is when an author totally blows a section of the book and thus her credibility because the subject she is discussing is not properly researched. The author does this when she talks about the Columbine shootings. The popular belief is that the Columbine shooters were relentlessly bullied. The actual facts are that they weren’t bullied and in fact one of them, Harris, was a typical bulling type offender himself. The definitive book on this subject is “Columbine” by Dave Cullen. It is one of Audible’s best sellers and irrefutably discounts the Columbine bulling myth. I’m sure that what the author is saying about bulling is correct but she never should have connected it to Columbine. It is sad that neither Carol Dweck nor her editors caught this egregious error.

With dramatic flair, Jeff Guinn delivers the definitive portrait of Bonnie and Clyde. These media-savvy outlaws appealed to America's Depression-era hunger for swashbuckling characters. Glowing radio and newspaper reports transformed these "public enemies" into celebrities - much like the cinema gangsters of the time.

Make sure you start this book when you have a lot of free time. You will be listening to it night and day. I was so engrossed with this book that when I was driving around listening to it, and would see a police car, I would get a sick feeling in my stomach. This book takes you in and envelopes you until the end. Be prepared to do some internet searches to follow along with pictures and timelines.

Thick as a Brick!
Revisado: 01-11-10
Great fiction brings you into the story so deeply that you forget it is fiction. With audio books two things are necessary, great writing and great narration and I don't mean good but great. This book has both. Scott Brick has always been my favorite Audible narrator and this was his best performance yet. The writing is incredible and I say congratulations to Pack. Can't wait for the next one!

Historia
Like the men whose epic stories Jon Krakauer has told in his previous bestsellers, Pat Tillman was an irrepressible individualist and iconoclast. In May 2002, Tillman walked away from his $3.6 million NFL contract to enlist in the United States Army. He was deeply troubled by 9/11, and he felt a strong moral obligation to join the fight against al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Two years later, he died on a desolate hillside in southeastern Afghanistan.

CONSERVATIVES READ THIS!!!
Revisado: 10-26-09
I have always liked and respected Krakauer's work. 'Into thin Air' and 'Under the Banner of Heaven' are very good reads. I would sill highly recommend these two selections even after his political hatchet job in 'Where Men Win Glory'. The book starts out like any Krakauer work. It was insightful, direct to the facts and well written. Near the end of the first section Krakauer inexplicably concocts a rant about the 2000 presidential election. Krakauer details the 5-4 vote by the Supreme Court to stop the count but neglects to mention the more important vote of 7-2 declaring the Florida Supreme Court's decision for a selective recount unconstitutional. In another chapter he documents several occasions when Bush was warned about imminent attacks from sleeper cells in the US and how he discarded them but failed to mention how Clinton had numerous opportunities to try to take out Bin Laden but didn't. The rest of the book is filled with a non-stop attack at the Bush administration that could have been taken directly from moveon.org's web pages. In the past Krakauer has always presented the facts and let the reader decide. This time he let his true colors show through. Thus is not an honest work by Krakauer. It is a partisan piece of leftist propaganda. It is a shame that he chose Tillman's story to vent his leftist vitriol.

The story starts out nicely. The characters are good and the story is intriguing. When we get to the amusement park the whole thing falls apart. I can't believe the publishers didn't make him re-write that climax.

Revisado: 10-05-09
This is a good one! This book was written in 1985 and is very close to being as good as Up Country. Up Country wins because of the great post war tour of Vietnam but Word of Honor's plot is just as suspenseful and thought provoking.
As always, 5 Stars to Scott Brick. Brick is hands down the best narrorator ever.
