Tempest Michaels is going undercover with best friend Big Ben to find out why his dad was found unconscious and stuffed into a wheelie bin. There is no client this time, just a definite need to find someone worthy of a jolly good punch in the pants. With strange noises coming through the floor of the rigging room and reports of ghosts seen at night wearing the uniform of 18th-century Royal Navy officers, the chaps set out to unravel the mystery, but is there more going on than a simple fake haunting?

Amanda Harper's life has changed a lot in the few weeks since she met Tempest Michaels. Working out her notice period in Kent Police, she has already taken a new job as a paranormal investigator to work alongside him. She could be interested in Tempest, but even after she arrested (thankfully he was innocent) Brett Barker, the single, athletic multimillionaire heir to the Barker family fortune, he still wants to take her on a date to Paris in his helicopter. How does a girl say no to that?

Tempest Michaels does not believe in the paranormal, in fact he thinks it is all nonsense, so why does he investigate it for a living? Because he is the only professional Paranormal Investigator in the Country and business is booming. Following a spate of violent deaths with vampiric characteristics Tempest can ignore the case no longer. The police are getting nowhere and solving the mystery falls into his job description. This would be enough motivation, but when the alluring PC Amanda Harper, AKA PC Hotstuff, asks for his help the lonely voice from his pants demands he do all he can to solve the case, find the killer and win a one way trip to her knickers.

OK, look. The paranormal does not exist. My name is Tempest Michaels and I am a paranormal investigator. I spend my working life politely pointing out how deluded people are. Despite that, I do get cases with real merit. The owner of Barker Steel Mill has died; the coroner says natural causes, but the rich widow is convinced otherwise, and the mill has a phantom that has been held responsible for accidents dating back to 1912. The staff are genuinely scared and someone is to blame.

What was she thinking? Quitting her steady job for the police for an uncertain future at a paranormal investigation agency? No time to dwell on it though, as she has a new client with a surprising problem: Kimberly Kousins has been cursed by a voodoo priest. Determined to prove to herself, her former chief inspector, and everyone else that she is a capable woman with no need for a man to rescue her, she is going to have to bend the day to her will.

Tempest Michaels is once again investigating ridiculous cases that are clearly not even slightly paranormal in nature, but his daily menu of fun is interrupted by a plague of men dressed in garish outfits with twisted clown makeup as they terrorize the Kent towns and villages with ever-escalating and more-frequent attacks.

Tempest Michaels is back! His office burned down, his love life is a joke, and he is convinced he is getting fat. It's the perfect time for a new case, then. The client is the son of a man who was killed in freak accident - struck by lightning. That doesn't sound very paranormal until you learn that he was inside his house when it happened and his heart exploded out of his chest. There are eldritch runes drawn on the victim’s house and his wife has been seen colluding with a mysterious old crone. Is there witchcraft being practiced in the nearby village of East Malling? The client certainly thinks so.

Gold coins from a centuries-old sunken treasure ship have been found on the beach in Cawsand. This would be no cause for Tempest Michaels to take notice, but a man murdered by the ghost of a dead pirate come to claim back the gold? That ticks all his boxes. Tempest, oblivious to the events in Cawsand and believing he was overdue a week off, has traveled to Cornwall with his dogs for some relaxation and perhaps a cream tea or two. Well, fat chance of that, because he is hip-deep in murderous ghosts before he finishes his second pint.
