As someone in the business of helping people find delight in their time rather than be mastered by it, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Rediscovering best practices to help you maximize your God-given time is always helpful because we’re always recalibrating where and how we are using it. Jordan provides a variety of helpful steps you can implement in real time that equip you to become a better steward of your time in your work and personal life.

To be honest, I didn’t know a lot about Coach John Thompson and his great legacy as the head coach of Georgetown University’s men’s basketball team. Nevertheless, this book was a spectacular and engaging recount of not only his phenomenal coaching career but his legacy as a man with an unwavering commitment to developing young men on and off the court, and as a by-product of that commitment, the role he played in shaping Georgetown University and brands like Nike.

This is a magnificent story of what it means to use your voice (skills, talent, passion) with an extraordinary genuine commitment and focus. I love how Coach Thompson kept his mission in coaching very clear — to educate and mentor young men to excel on and off the court.

Though an imperfect man and human like all of us, Coach Thompson’s life as a head coach models how important it is to lead in your lane, remain fiercely committed to it, refuse to cut corners, and refuse to settle when demanding the best from yourself and others.

Because I love the nuances of relationships when it comes to leading people, it’s great to see how Coach Thompson made sure he invested in being mentored himself along the way especially while he was at the top of his game. He also assembled a dedicated team of people who shared the same passion to see young men reach their potential so they can excel beyond the basketball court and in life.

An exceptional read!!!

This was a phenomenal book! Frank. Honest. Vulnerable. Terry Crews models transparency, humility, and maintaining a teachable spirit while standing confidently in his values even when it’s unpopular. I've gained a lot from his story. Glad you shared it, sir!

Will Smith’s book — WILL. Authentic, transparent, human. Will gives us what feels like an open window into his soul as a man, father, husband, and artist…or at the very least we get what feels like an unfiltered view into the family room of his life. Will Smith lands plenty of wise nuggets that lead the reader to self-reflect on areas of life that we could easily avoid rather than use as fire to grow. Well done!

“What Donald thinks is justified retaliation is, in this context, mass murder. “ (Mary Trump, PhD, on Trump’s response to the pandemic)

Just finished “Too Much and Never Enough” by Mary Trump, PhD. I posted in early 2016 just before the Presidential election my suspicions and concerns about his so-called leadership and the similarity of his rhetoric to that of Hitler. And I found it incredibly baffling the way media handled coverage leading up to both the primary and election. Fast forward to present day... here we are. The tale is told. This book gives insight from a psychologist’s point of view (who just so happens to be Trump’s very own niece) on the pathologies inherited from his father, what is critically emotionally and psychologically troubling about the man in the Oval Office, and why it is a great danger to have him remain there. As someone who has studied psychology, this book was both a mesmerizing and insightful read.

Look closely. Read closely. And as a bonus, check out how the heretical “prosperity gospel” plays a part in how Donald, and his father before him, shaped his speech of superlatives.

This book offers astounding insights as to how we should think about what we are thinking about. It was liberating to learn and relearn just how important it is to make a distinction between what we may personally hold as a value and what scripture says or does not say about that matter. This book also raises the bar of accountability for it means to have a healthy conscience, especially for those who proclaim Christ as Lord. As a reader, you will be comforted to know it is both biblical and wise to obey our conscience on issues we value. This book equally affirms our need to be open to our conscience being refined and even significantly adjusted as we become students of scripture and culture, rather than attempting to make scripture the student of culture.

Yes. Read this book! And if you are like me use audible and listen to it! While this book is almost a decade old the principles and practical realities of it have not changed. I stumbled upon this book at a time in my life when I have decided to move forward in my work and my personal life in a way that captures what I genuinely, at the heart level, really value. I needed to recapture my WHY, not live out or take on someone else’s. This book through captivating stories from business and social movements that being great successful as a business or individual proves you know how to deliver a product, but it doesn’t communicate the values which keep people loyal to a vision, a mission or movement far after you are gone.

Simon gives practical examples to validate how the WHY really does make the difference at the personal and beyond. Read it and start to journey to rediscovering your WHY.

Another Well Written Account of the Obama Era

Dan does a wonderful job of retelling his account of the Obama Presidency from his own lens as White House Communications Director and Senior Advisor to the President. In some of the earlier chapters he seems to be talking a bit too fast like he is doing takes between meetings in the Situation Room to discuss Bin Laden or during a break between meetings in the Oval to fine tune messaging on the Affordable Health Care Act. Lol. But then something shifts and his tone in the audio version becomes warmer and more palpable. I’m enjoyed it nevertheless, through and through. Entertaining and fun, serious and consequential. Definitely worth the read!
