So far I’m on episode 8 of the podcast, and I have mixed feelings about it.

Pros:
- Good insights about how upbringing may affect our lives and thought / behavior patterns
- Might be useful for people who didn’t realize these things already

Cons:
- The host focuses too much on her own experiences. While that can be helpful, a lot of times I find that I don’t relate to her experience, and I wish she would provide a wider variety of examples how an issue can manifest in different kinds of people. For example, episode 8 focuses on perfectionism, but centers entirely on wanting person’s looks to be “perfect”. I don’t think that’s how perfectionism manifests for everyone (certainly doesn’t for me), so it wasn’t relatable.
- The “action items” are sometimes vague / not clearly defined, and a lot of times just come back to “just love yourself and tell yourself you’re enough”. This is the main reason I’m listening to the podcast. I already understand how my childhood affected me, but want to learn how to live past it. But so far the podcast has been heavier on explanation, but lighter on the actual “healing” part.
- The host is asking the listeners to leave a 5-star review in order to get some free materials, which I feel is a somewhat shady tactic. It would have been better to ask to leave an honest review, no matter the rating
- Not really a “con”, more of a pet peeve, but the overly upbeat infomercial-style intro (“Are YOU really to heal the child within?!!!”) is a bit cringe-worthy, no matter how much I try to self-analyze to figure out if “it’s not the intro, it’s me”. But I do think it’s the intro. My guess is that people seeking this type of podcast might be in some emotional distress and looking for a way to help themselves, so it feels jarringly out of place.

I’m still giving it 4 stars, because I don’t want to turn people away who may really need it. If you’re wondering whether your problems can be tied to your childhood, I think this will definitely be very insightful for you,

If you’re like me, and have some understanding of your childhood trauma, you mileage may vary. If you’re “lucky” I’m that you have very similar experiences to the host, maybe you’ll get more out of it. But so far for me it’s not resonating that much, and I feel like it could focus more on the tools and techniques for healing.
