Over time, Ed Slots arguments become so out of touch with reality (arguing for strategies that benefit multi millionaires, as if they were listening to his podcast, and continuously unable to understand why someone considering taking out a loan might be in need of money), that I found myself becoming angered by his arguments. Individuals listening to podcasts for retirement advice are searching for knowledge from those who can understand their situation and perspective and give applicable advice. This is not the place to find that.

I thoroughly enjoyed Boyfriend Material, and listened to the sequel to continue the warm feeling of love I got from the first book. Instead the 2nd book was filled with tension and anxiousness from the constant bickering and relentless near break-ups. The 1st book has the hope and excitement of "will they, won't they" fall in love and live happily ever after. The 2nd book is filled with the dread and dispair of "will they, won't they" break up and live miserably ever after.

As the spouse of someone with BPD, I am well aware of the heartache and frustration that can be caused by those with BPD. However, this podcast is simply someone ranting about their negative experiences with BPD individuals, by someone who has not bothered to take the time to try to understand individuals who suffer from this diagnosis. Despite their challenges and inappropriate behaviors, individuals with BPD can also be creative, loving, insightful, and fun to be around. I will not pretend that dealing with BPD individuals is always easy, but the black & white/good & evil view of of this disorder voiced in this podcast is simply ignorant & inaccurate.

Having a loved one who suffers from addiction can be devastating. Unlike other sources that tell you there is nothing you can do but walk away or wait for them to hit "rock bottom", the CRAFT model takes the point of view that your loved one will not change until the motivation to do so outweighs the motivations to remain the same. This book offers hope to loved ones by providing tools to effect the motivations for change, while also supporting the concept that is universal to ALL friends & family support groups- This is not your fault, You cannot make someone change, And you need to focus on your own self care.
