I kept waiting AND waiting. This is a terrible book. Don’t be swayed by the authors name.
This book has no redeeming qualities. Of the almost 400 books I have read and listened to
thru Audible this is among the worst. The narrator couldn’t save it…

WARNING PART ONE

I am an long LONG fan of the Pendergast books. I own them all and have relistened to them all several times. I waited impatiently for this books release. This book is terrible. The story itself is bad, it’s writing is bad and I could barely stomach the narrator. It reads like stupid people wrote it and after years of reading Preston and Child I am shocked. If that’s not bad enough they ask you to wait for it’s conclusion. The only thing I’m waiting for is my money AND time back!!!

I enjoyed each, but the first was the more’Connolly’ like. His books are always an enjoyment to hear and John Hardy IS the Detective, Louie and Angel. Sad is the wait for the next chapter in their lives!!

Worse Than Bloodless….

This is simply the most terribly written book by 2 of my most favorite authors, Preston and Child. How could their editors let this happen?
Badly written, nearly non existent research, on and on I could go. I have read every book ever written by them. All of them more than once. There is just no excuse for their lazy approach to this story.

I am a DEVOTED FAN of Preston and Child!!!!! I cannot believe they would allow something like this book to be released. The NARRATOR!! Rene must be rolling over in his grave....the STORY (and I use that term loosely) AWFUL. I do not have the words to describe how terribly written. PRESTON AND CHILD should be ashamed and humiliated to have something such as this carry their name. They owe me for even trying to listen to this book! I could not finish it after several tries.

What a wonderful surprise and pleasure it was listening to this story! I am a hardcore mystery, thriller, BIG NAME DETECTIVE AND HERO type listener. This book was well written, the story extremely entertaining and SMART and the main character was just GREAT! You could use much fancier words...just listen and enjoy.

Couldn’t wait to listen to Vol 2 after Nocturnes. Let down! I am a devoted Connolly fan, but please end this thing about Quayle and the damn Atlas. I REALLY miss Bird, Louie and Angel!!!

Disappointing

I have read and listened to all of Preston/Child books repeatedly, this book is a major disappointment. The Corey character has never made much sense, least of all the things she does and says. Please retire her!! This is a 2020 review of an old book....but relistening to it just confirms my original feelings.
