Very fun, just what I was looking for.

Any additional comments?
I love retro sci-fi, and this story did not disappoint. I was already a fan of the original, and it was great fun to hear the story continue. I particularly enjoyed the blending of actual historical characters and inventions with the sci-fi elements introduced by the Martian Invasion.
Once again, Ray Greenley did a fantastic job with the narration. His clean delivery and characterization really helped me experience each character as individuals. It is like having a full cast of friends (and enemies) in my ear.
Note: I was given a copy of this audiobook for review. That being said, I would have sought this audiobook out on my own anyway.I look forward to the next in the series.

My son (13) and I enjoyed this book.
Revisado: 05-31-16
Any additional comments?
My son (13) and I had the pleasure of listening to Insidious, the second book in the Jet Black series.
We really enjoyed the first book, Nebulous. In fact, Nebulous is my son’s favorite book to date.
Insidious continues directly where Nebulous ends, and is a more action filled story. More secrets are revealed, and the story is unfolding at a satisfying pace.
The book does seem to be a little more adult, but I believe that is to be expected for a series of this nature. The characters also get more fleshed out, and the scope of the story landscape is widened considerably. My only real negative comment is that the small bit of romance in the story seems a bit forced and the chemistry between the characters involved really is not there at this point. It is a very small part of the story, but I suppose it stood out to me because so many of the other characters and situations flow much more naturally.
The narration is excellent. Ray Greenley has a way of making each characters distinct. You always know who is talking just by the sound and cadence of Ray’s voice. His tone works very well for this style of book.
Here is my 13 yo old son’s review:
“It was an interesting book with a good story and a good plot. It was a quick read, and in my opinion had everything necessary in it to be a short entertaining book. I liked it because there was a lot of action sequences and the adventure part of the story I found interesting. I give the book 5 stars and I would recommend it to the ya. Also Ray Greenly did a very good job at narrating the book being sure to change his voice for each character.”

What if...a machine could murder one person while implicating another for the crime? An alien being looked like livestock but spoke like a philosopher? Earth was ruined by war, and Mars was humanity's only hope? Robots were created to wage an unending war on the ravaged surface of Earth while man hid underground? Peeking into the future showed a worse result with each look?

As a retro sci-fi fan this really hit the spot

What did you like best about this story?
After finally getting the chance to get in some more PKD, I am very glad I did so. I enjoyed the variety in this collection. Some stories were sad, other raised very interesting questions. There is a definite “retro” feel to these stories (which I enjoy). This is of course because many of the stories were written many decades ago.I also came away with a bit of a “twilight zone” like feeling.
What about Ray Greenley’s performance did you like?
The narration itself was masterfully read by Ray Greenley, with clean and pure audio quality. Ray also does a wonderful job of making each character distinct, so you can better follow the story.
Any additional comments?
I am interested in hearing more PKD stories, especially if read by Ray Greenley.

Historia
Three years after losing his father in a fire, 13-year-old Jethro Black (his friends call him Jet) finds himself embarking upon a mysterious adventure when, while attending his grandfather's funeral, a strange man walks up and gives him an envelope and a key. As a mystery begins to unfold, Jet and his best friend Travis are about to discover that there is more to the world than meets the eye, and they just may have a crucial role to play in the outcome of humanity's future. Nebulous is the first release in the young adult science fiction book series, Jet Black. Warning. This book series will take you on an adventurous ride through the world of Jet Black. Here you will inevitably find various religious and spiritual undertones woven into the story. Some of these are subtle, some are not. Others are hidden as clues to a larger picture. While some readers may value these as hidden treasures, others may choose to see them differently. If you are easily offended by religious and/or spiritual content, I suggest you turn back now. If however, you are not afraid of such things, by all means... Proceed at your own risk.

Nebulous, a great story for the YA audience.
Revisado: 05-31-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
What praise can I give Nebulous? It is this… Tristan, my 12 year old son, listened intently to the book, and when he was done, he started over again. He loved it and wants more. He eagerly awaits the next book in the series. For me, Nebulous was “Stand by me” meets “ET” with some super hero gadgetry thrown in. The story explores family and friendship, as well as the innate desire to do good, especially among young boys just starting to come into their own. It is a sci-fi adventure and a mystery perfectly suited toward the YA audience.

Tristan’s review:
“Great story I loved it! Some things that I liked
about it was how the story focused on boys
about my age going to save kids from a secret
organization of people. I liked that because my
age group of boys generally likes the idea of going on an adventure
and saving people, which perfectly makes this story a hit for the YA.
Another part of the audiobook that was also great was the actual narration.
The reason I thought the narration was so good was because you could
easily tell which character was talking even before that character’s name was announced.
That’s a good attribute because I’m sure making up voices for all those characters is challenging but rewarding in many ways.
In conclusion these are the reasons I liked the story so much.”
