A must read/listen for Christian children
Revisado: 05-07-25
Fantasy stories are a good way to introduce children to what is right and wrong. The series lay out good principles of teamwork, love and sacrifice.
It was an added bonus to listen to top performers like Patrick Stewart and Lynn Redgrave.

A good life book
Revisado: 05-07-25
This was a good story of survival despite not knowing skills and making potentially life threatening mistakes.
Peter Coyote made the book come alive, I love his pace and voice.

Historia
From the irrepressible author of Trout Bum and The View from Rat Lake comes an engaging, humorous, often profound examination of life's greatest mysteries: sex, death, and fly-fishing. John Gierach's quest takes us from his quiet home water (an ordinary, run-of-the-mill trout stream where fly-fishing can be a casual affair) to Utah's famous Green River, and to unknown creeks throughout the Western states and Canada. We're introduced to a lively group of fishing buddies, some local "experts," and even an ex-girlfriend, along the way.

Easy story telling that teaches you
Revisado: 02-04-25
John Gierach had such an easy way to tell stories. The stories teach you as well as entertain you.
And I really like the rhythm of the narrator, David Colacci.

Historia
As war clouds darkened over Europe in 1914, a party led by Sir Ernest Shackleton set out to make the first crossing of the entire Antarctic continent via the Pole. But their initial optimism was short-lived as ice floes closed around their ship, gradually crushing it and marooning twenty-eight men on the polar ice. Alone in the world's most unforgiving environment, Shackleton and his team began a brutal quest for survival.

What a narrator!

This is an amazing story of adventure made incredibly enjoyable thanks to the narrator. His accent and rhythm made it feel like it was Lord Shackleton himself telling his accomplishments.

Historia
This is the story of Theodore Roosevelt Jr., a fortunate son who proved himself on the battlefields of two world wars. General Omar Bradley said of him, "I have never known a braver man or a more devoted soldier." But for much of his life, Theodore Roosevelt's son Ted seemed born to live in his father's shadow. With the same wide smile, winning charm, and vigorous demeanor, Ted possessed limitless potential, with even the White House within his reach.

The son of a hero is a hero himself
Revisado: 01-26-24
The story of the Roosevelt family is not complete without knowing about Ted Jr. Maybe his timing in politics was off and conflicted with the rising of his cousin. Nevertheless, Ted Jr's life did homage to his father and honor to America. A must read if you like the Roosevelt's.
The reading sounded awkward sometimes because of the chopped sentences, probably an editing issue.

Historia
Gates of Fire puts you at the side of valiant Spartan warriors in 480 BC for the bloody, climactic battle at Thermopylae. There, a few hundred of Sparta’s finest sacrificed their lives to hold back the invading Persian millions. The time they bought enabled the Greeks to rally - saving, according to ancient historian Herodotus, “Western democracy and freedom from perishing in the cradle.” How did the Spartans accomplish this superhuman feat? This is what the King of Persia hopes to learn from the sole Spartan survivor.

Loved the story, and was enthralled by the narrator. Every character had it's own style. Very compelling!

Historia
Over the past hundred years, scholars have attacked the historical truth of the Gospels and argued that they were originally anonymous and filled with contradictions. In The Case for Jesus, Brant Pitre taps in to the wells of Christian scripture, history, and tradition to ask and answer a number of different questions, including: If we don't know who wrote the Gospels, how can we trust them? How are the four Gospels different from other Gospels, such as the lost Gospel of "Q" and the Gospel of Thomas?
