Historia
William Barr’s first tenure as attorney general under President George H.W. Bush was largely the result of chance, while his second tenure under President Donald Trump a deliberate and difficult choice. In this candid memoir, Barr takes listeners behind the scenes during seminal moments of the 1990s, from the LA riots to Pan Am 103 and Iran Contra. Thirty years later, Barr faced an unrelenting barrage of issues, such as Russiagate, the COVID outbreak, civil unrest, the impeachments, and the 2020 election fallout.

pRaise the Barr
Revisado: 07-08-22
Bill Barr’s helmsmanship at the Department of Justice exemplifies the even handed position that ‘the best politics in that department is no politics’.
His perspective on the Trump administration is perhaps the most unbiased we may hope for from the present generation, certainly within the administration. I only hope that my fellow historians, in years to come, shall endeavor to weigh matters of the day as fairly as this servant of the veiled Lady at Justice.
I pray that our nation may continue to benefit from steady hands at the helm of the rule of law. I thank you for your principled pursuit of justice, your reserve, and you service Sir. We are all the better for it, and those who look back at the inexplicable series of damned things over the last few administrations and read this book will be all the better informed; it has resolved some
Of my own confusion , confirmed some things about which I was not sure, and given me a great sense of peace by it’s testimony.

Is Christianity obsolete? Can an intelligent, educated person really believe the Bible? Or do the atheists have it right? In his new book, best-selling author Dinesh D'Souza ( What's So Great about America) investigates both Christianity and atheism and their influences on culture to show why there is, indeed, something great about Christianity.

Fabulous Overview of Atheism and Christianity
Revisado: 11-30-21
I hold a history degree from an Ivy League level institution yet this author provides one of the best histories the enlightenment’s philosophical, religious, and cultural developments (especially as it pertains to common perceptions and miss conceptions in our culture) that I have ever come across.
This book offers an important history of atheism with serious considerations of key arguments in a fair and balanced way that every bright should be aware of and any Christian would benefit from reading.
The book is focused on secular arguments but addresses all perspectives justly

Human history is full of the stories of peasants, subjects, and tribes. Yet the concept of the “citizen” is historically rare — and was among America’s most valued ideals for over two centuries. But without shock treatment, warns historian Victor Davis Hanson, American citizenship as we have known it may soon vanish.

Victor Davis Hanson Victor Davis Hanson offers a brilliant retrospective in the last five years of the American cultural landscape. His Comparison of classical republics and democracy with the American Republic office rich insights and informative contrasts at least as rewarding as his uncanny ability to distill social and political chaos of into accessible rationality in an arena wherein rationality is lacking. His perspective on this nation and its trajectory, it’s traditions and tragedies, It’s assets and its liabilities reminds me of the mind of James Madison and the authors of the Declaration of Independence.

Narrative of a career with occasional insightful mention of the Clintons
Revisado: 08-22-21
Garry’s career and in public service and security is a long train of professionalism. Don’t let the cover fool you, his personal experience of professional life in the secret service is the focus of the book but this inevitably yields insight into some of the people, like the Clintons, he served. His experiences, insights, and opinions should be considered not only in the history of the first families he served but also the corruption of the bureaucracies he served and the nations was so underserved by; that corruption is indeed a crisis of character or as Gary’s suggest in the conclusion a crisis of culture and the inevitable failure of leadership. I was honored to learn that men like Gary still serve this country but I’m deeply disturbed considering the systemic failures which refuse to utilize service and sacrifice for the greater good for narrow personal, political, and financial gain.

Historia
Here is the astonishing, never-before-told story of the greatest rescue mission of World War II: when the OSS set out to recover more than 500 airmen trapped behind enemy lines. During a bombing campaign, hundreds of American airmen were shot down in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Local Serbian villagers risked their own lives to give refuge to the soldiers, and for months the airmen lived in hiding, waiting for rescue.

Patriots left to the enemy with no Allied support until the end
Revisado: 08-21-21
This is an excellent history of a large operation in a theater that goes largely unnoticed by most historians and civilians alike only because of an early mistake (printed by an enemy mole in the SOE) by FDR and later admitted and lamented by Churchill.
Saving the lives of over 600 Allied airmen was a tremendous feat and wonderfully chronicled here by Freeman. His insights into the strategic and political blindspot the west has for the balkans has repurchasing to modernity.
The tragic confusion of allegiance in the Foreign Office and the State Department ultimately led to the murder of a good and innocent man, whose saved hundreds of allied lives and fought against both Nazi and Communist tyranny in his country. Posthumously recognized as the leader of his nation with the legion of merit by Truman and Eisenhower and the men he saved.

Very much enjoyed this wonderful overview of some of the realities Which contributed to President Truman’s decision. There are however, some additional factors use tipped for brevity; such as the British statistical analysis of loss estimates for a seaborn land invasion
which was even higher than American analysis Truman received.

Historia
On Winston Churchill’s first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next 12 months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally - and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people "the art of being fearless."

So well written it almost rolls like a novel but every bit of it real history devoid of undocumented narrative. Such masterful command of known material into a fresh medium writing is a testament to human storytelling and it’s potential for accuracy. Homer would be proud.

Superb Book about a better man.
Revisado: 08-14-20
A moderate in the vein of Lincoln and Washington whose perspective on American society is almost as piercing as de Tocqueville’s and even rarer in today’s partisan enviro emend for his fair and balanced judgement. A man for all seasons and a book suited to many different approaches even those who wish a little lite reading will enjoy a speech or two at a time on a plane or a bus.

Dull, droll, Uninformed, and Not funny.
Revisado: 06-27-20
Sadly this is something of a reiteration of howard zinn's People's History of the US and although it is a joke the material just is not funny. Rather sad actually: a pathetic attempt to align a creative license with the marxist propaganda that has about as much to do with history as bugs bunny's version. What's worse it's not funny. I believe in free speech, make fun of the anything tastefully but do not indulge in droll diatribe. I'm happy to listen to Lewis Blackdrop F-bombs on his mother and mine because sooner or latter, sometimes even while dropping those f-bombs he's funny. This guy is telling false narratives of history and it would be okay if only it were funny. The onle thing funny here, is the .... "history" for lack of a better word.
