From the ashes of a devastated Boston, a harrowing legend emerges. Thirteen years prior, the colossal kaiju, Nemesis, ravaged the city in her relentless pursuit of retribution. Today, mankind's survival teeters on the sacrificial offerings atop a chilling monolith known as The Altar, where the condemned pay the ultimate price to prevent Nemesis's wrath from consuming humanity.

Good story

Good storyline with lots of action. Recommendations for this book came up several times on my timeline. I’m glad I pulled the trigger on it.

Good but I felt like I missed a book
Revisado: 02-03-23
This was a good continuation to series, but I felt like I missed a few chapters from another book. The book jumps in talking about the twin’s as if we knew what was going on. It felt like there should have been at least one chapter at the beginning, or another book that brought us to this point. There was even talk about someone’s amulet getting smudge to reduce his power but I don’t remember anything about that from the previous books.

Good continuation of the Memoirs
Revisado: 09-18-17
I enjoyed the second book in the Memoirs series but I felt like the author started rambling 3/4 of the way through the book. It felt like he was throwing meaningless filler material in to get his word count up. Once the story got back on track I enjoyed it. I guess when authors collaborate and the author you really enjoy drops off it's noticeable. Still a good listen.

I love the series but this book has turned me off
Revisado: 04-01-17
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I am torn. I waited a while for this to get on audiobooks but there were things in the story that I didn't care for.
Would you be willing to try another book from Robert Bevan? Why or why not?
If it continues down this path NO.
Which character – as performed by Jonathan Sleep – was your favorite?
Cooper.
Was Critical Failures IV: The Phantom Pinas worth the listening time?
The story was good
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the series and even thought this book was good but I was put off by some of the things in the book. I understand the author is trying to mix the real world with the fantasy but the way this was done was unpleasant. The book would have been great without all the racist and overly used vulgar language. Also the political potshots I could have done without. I listen to fantasy books to get away from that stuff and getting someones political views thrown in your face in a racist vulgar manner takes away from an otherwise great story line.

Not bad for the first book in the series
Revisado: 09-13-16
Great start with a little different take on the Zombie apocalypse. I only have two complaints about this book one. 1. The narrator sometimes comes off making the characters sound overly kiddy whey they are suppose to be adults. I gave the performance a 3 but it is more of a solid 3.8 he relayed the action scenes well. 2. I think the story was very short. With 9 books in the series so far this could have been combined with other books to make it longer.

Liked it but didn't love this book
Revisado: 09-10-16
I enjoyed listening to Lycan Fallout 3 but has some issues with it. I can see where someone would be depressed with the loss of everyone they love. due to outliving them but this book took it to a level that I didn't like. I find it hard to believe that you stop caring for anything if you lose your spouse including your children. Who doesn't see their spouse in their children and pass that love on to them?? Other than the self loathing the book was good. Great action and adventure with all the twists and turns I have grown to love from Mark Tufo.

While the undead currently roam the world in herds that can often stretch for miles, zombies are no longer the biggest threat to humanity. That distinction has returned to mankind. Those who are immune to the zombie infection are now either reviled or revered. Some have become human biological weapons while others are seen as the last hope for the continued existence of the human race. They are a symbol of hope to some...fear to others.

Historia
At first glance, most see only a shy girl from New York, but to the denizens of the night - vampires, witches, and their ilk - I am a nightmare given flesh, born to raze their kind from this very earth. I am the Icon, the Shining One, the last defender of humanity against the oncoming tide of darkness. They say my coming was foretold, that prophecies speak of a beacon of hope who will light the way during the end days. It is said I am destined to vanquish the last of the Magi, and face the Night Spawn in the battle for the fate of mankind.

I didn't love it
Revisado: 07-28-16
The Tome of Bill is a series that I have enjoyed from the very beginning but this book wasn't great. It did answer question that came up in book 7 as to where in the heck was the Icon during all of the action. I'm not sure if it was the story itself with all its self pitty and whining or if it would have been better with a different narrator. This was definitely not my favorite book in the series.
