So good!

I’ve listened to this book 3 times in the past 2 weeks. The narration isn’t my favorite, but if you speed it up, it’s manageable. Vocal sounds aside, there is a vast amount of information and examples in this book. I honestly wish I would have stumbled across this book prior to paying for therapy. She discussed and dissected aspects of both introverts and extroverts responding to emotionally immature parents. I’m an introvert and the guidance given in this book is already helping me manage some relationships in a more healthy way.

Historia
As a farm girl in eastern Oregon, feeding bottles to bummer lambs and babysitting her little sister, Jackie Shannon Hollis expected to become a mother someday. After a series of failed relationships, she met Bill, the man she wanted to spend her life with. But he was a man who never wanted children. Saying I do meant saying I don't to a rite of passage her body had prepared her for since puberty.

More than I expected

Learning to live with being childless (by choice or not), can make navigating some emotions and relationships tough. So much of the authors story I could relate too and that was refreshing. I highly recommend for any woman (or man) navigating this sensitive topic.

Historia
When it comes to the “hard seasons” of life—the death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a job—transformation seems impossible when grief and uncertainty dominate your days. Especially when, as Didn’t See that Coming reveals, no one asks to have their future completely rearranged for them. But, as Rachel Hollis writes, it is up to you how you come through your pain—you can come through changed for the better, having learned and grown, or stuck in place where your identity becomes rooted in what hurt you.

Better than I thought it would be...

I had just experienced a traumatic life event and this book showed up at the right time, for me. Although I've always had a knack for overcoming and navigating life's obstacles, this time, I needed a little help. There was only one time when I rolled my eyes and only once when I couldn't relate to an analogy used, but I still understood the point she was trying to make. I appreciated the realness and honesty! I am listening to it again, and suspect it may be my new 'go to' when I need to hear some real life, pull up your pants and don't give up messages. Thank you for this book! Its already been a blessing to me.

The sales tips and real life examples of how to implement them, are awesome. I understand this may not be the best fit for everyone, but I found it tremendously helpful. I've listened to it a few times already and I plan on keeping it in rotation.
