Excellent SciFi Anthology
Revisado: 12-15-22
I enjoyed every story in this anthology. I appreciated the show, not tell writing style. The lack of boring exposition was a HUGE plus.
I was very impressed that the writers did not pull their punches, so the characters in each story did not have plot armor. Most of the stories had a satisfactory ending, whether it was a happy ending or not.
The characters are basically space furries, but their identities are more than just being anthropomorphic animals in space. They are well written characters whom feel like they could be real people with relatable problems and flaws.
I absolutely recommend this audiobook to anyone that enjoys good SciFi stories.

Exposition is Boring
Revisado: 05-20-22
I couldn't finish the book. I listened to the first chapter and half of the second. The exposition was dumped on me and was very boring. Exposition should be dolled out in little bits as dialogue between characters to make it at least somewhat interesting to someone who doesn't care. It shouldn't be given as a long, boring monologue.

Takes about 30 to 60 minutes to get interesting, but once it does the story is very good. Kept entertained the entire rest of the story.

Historia
Nearly six hundred years ago, a short, genial, cannily alert man in his late 30s took a very old manuscript off a library shelf, saw with excitement what he had discovered, and ordered that it be copied. That book was the last surviving manuscript of an ancient Roman philosophical epic by Lucretius—a beautiful poem containing the most dangerous ideas: that the universe functioned without the aid of gods, that religious fear was damaging to human life, and that matter was made up of very small particles.

Edutainment
Revisado: 02-19-22
This book could have been a pamphlet. This guy lucretius thought up atoms. This other guy from rome found a copy of lucretius' book about atoms. The ideas in it get a few people burned at the stake and make the church very angry. However, once the idea takes hold, it slowly grows and becomes a foundational part of modern science.
The rest of the book is everything that happened in between. The narrator has a good voice. It kept me reasonably entertained while working at amazon.

You, dear listener, continue at your own risk. It is not for the faint of heart - no more so than the study of dragons itself. But such study offers rewards beyond compare: to stand in a dragon's presence, even for the briefest of moments - even at the risk of one's life - is a delight that, once experienced, can never be forgotten….All the world, from Scirland to the farthest reaches of Eriga, know Isabella, Lady Trent, to be the world's preeminent dragon naturalist.

Mystery novel with dragons as backdrop
Revisado: 01-21-22
I'm not sure how to feel about it. It was a good listen and I finished it, but I was expecting the A-plot to be about dragons rather than hill folk getting conned by nobles.

Historia
On a cool June evening in 2009, after performing a concert at London's Royal Academy of Music, 20-year-old American flautist Edwin Rist boarded a train for a suburban outpost of the British Museum of Natural History. Home to one of the largest ornithological collections in the world, the Tring museum was full of rare bird specimens whose gorgeous feathers were worth staggering amounts of money to the men who shared Edwin's obsession: the Victorian art of salmon fly-tying. Once inside the museum, the champion fly-tier grabbed hundreds of bird skins - some collected 150 years earlier.

It's only 30 minutes. That's not long, right?
Revisado: 02-25-21
I thought I could knock this out in 30 minutes. 10 minutes in I had to turn it off. When I picked it up again, I was like, "There's only 20 minutes left. How hard could it be?" Today when I picked it up again, 9 minutes was left and I thought, "Surely I can make it through 9 minutes, right?" I did.
Anyway, this is probably better read than listened to simply because the narrator is monotone. I was put to sleep very quickly.
Maybe if you really enjoy math or if you need a cheap sleep aid, then this would be for you. Otherwise, save your time.
