good story, overdone narration
Revisado: 10-14-22
the narrators constant strangely forced deep tone tried to give a sense of ominous portent and suspense, but it just distracted me from the story constantly and made it hard to actually feel any sort of suspense or tension.
story was well written, but unfortunately it was overshadowed by the "I'm trying to be dark and sinister" droning narration

wasted a credit on narration
Revisado: 10-12-22
the story was tolerable, but the formulaic narration patterns made the entire performance lose any sense of pacing or drama or suspense. I wish I hadn't spent a credit on this. probably won't finish it

one primary complaint...
this narrator is quite prolific, but couldn't figure out how to say Velasquez? it's a hard "k" sound, not "kw"...

Historia
I’m a rookie, in every sense of the word. But even though I have a wicked crush on the sexy shortstop on my baseball team, I won’t give in to my fantasies about him. I’m here in the majors for the first time to play ball. Not to experience my first time with a man. Trouble is, Declan Steele is sexy, flirty, and now he’s my new workout partner. We’re spending mornings together in the gym, getting to know each other. Our connection is powerful—maybe because we each have our fair share of secrets and scars. Ones we'll both fight to protect.

Hot... but...
Revisado: 07-06-21
So... I hate to say this... but I got bored during some of the sex scenes. Teddy's sections were great. He was 100% present and in the scene every single time. Jacob though... As much as I love most of his work, it sounded like he was bored during a lot of this book. Almost like I could hear him rolling his eyes like "okay, here we go again".
Honestly... I skipped to the end of a few chapters because of it.
The story? Great, no complaints. A little unrealistic, but hey, this is all fantasy land, so I can't knock that.
The narration, 50% Great / 50% "Okay".

Historia
Over 120 years after Oscar Wilde submitted The Picture of Dorian Gray for publication, the uncensored version of his novel appears here for the first time in audio. This volume restores material, including instances of graphic homosexual content, removed by the novel's first editor, who feared it would be "offensive" to Victorians.

A Classic, But Not Here
- De Eugenia en 07-05-21
badly organized
Revisado: 07-01-21
skip the first ~2 hours. for some reason they included a ton of detail before the story that could have been summarized into a few sentences and then said to listen to the appendix. and I lost interest about 2 hours from the end. there were tons of lists of things and it got really boring. I skipped forward and things got marginally better
all in all it was a good read, classic story, most of the narration was excellent. but some of it was really dull as well.

beautiful story
Revisado: 06-30-21
Aven Shore's wistful tone, often laced with warmth and notes of hope, while also dramatic and intense where required, was a perfect match for this beautiful documentary-style exposition on the life and struggles of a polar bear and her cubs. I felt like I was watching the life of this little family with Aven as my guide. I appreciated that the sections involving humans and their effects on the bears (oil, tagging, etc) were present but weren't harped on so much as to be exhausting. A very pleasant listen. I even learned a few things!

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.
