I hate enactments!

After listening to Audible for years I need to say I HATE all ensemble casts and enactments. I want one person to read a story. The only reason I would download one is by accident! What happened to Bronson Pinchot? He is awesome and magically captures the characters. This reading just sucked!

Profoundly Protestant viewpoints.

This guy has a profoundly Protestant bias. Hence, he is completely wrong. I don’t even think he knows it. He makes “thus” and “therefore” arguments, most of which have no basis in reality. I had to force myself to finish the book. Basically, it is a well thought out argument. His logic is impeccable. His premise OSS completely wrong.

I haven’t seen such a book for a long time. I would slot it more as Protestant propaganda than history.

Hogwash

There’s was really great history until he got into the killing. From there on out it was utterly implausible. Nobody can keep a secret. If there was a conspiracy, we’d know by now.

Unexpectedly funny

I didn’t know what to expect. I downloaded this book from the 2022 favorites list and was pleasantly surprised. Very funny!

Video Game

I tried, but I am unable to get into these video game style books. I quit at about 1/2 way through and do not understand the high review scores.

The narrator is good, but the book is flat and without depth. The characters are shallow and the world creation is abbreviated, vague, and assuming.

I wish they would describe the book genre
correctly so I could avoid it. It isn’t what I would call true epic fantasy, nor is it worth my time to listen.

Great narrator, disappointing and unprofessional History

When did it become okay to represent history, especially a history of death, murder, slavery. and relentless tragedy and injustice, with “shock jock” vulgar profanity?

The topic is very interesting, but I was so bored and disappointed by being hit over the head by the overuse of unnecessarily low language, I stopped about 1/2 way through.

Is this what the author thinks it takes to keep one’s attention, or does she think she is being funny? If so, she is wrong on two counts. Too much salt ruins the dish. She effectively dumped the whole box of salt into the soup and ruined what could have been a great book. Her over-abundance of cheap and vulgar attempts at humor came at the expense of the story. It was very disappointing.
