Historia
In this Hugo-nominated novel, Neanderthal physicist Ponter Boddit brings Canadian geneticist Mary Vaughan back to his world to explore the near-utopian civilization of the Neanderthals. Boddit serves as a Candide figure, the naive visitor whose ignorance about our society makes him a perfect tool to analyze human tendencies toward violence, over-population, and environmental degradation.

I was reluctant to move in to the second book despite the fantastic first one but I’m glad I did. So many interesting concepts. Excited for the third one now!

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Huge Sawyer fan but this is a convoluted mess. Distracting sound effects, it’s more an old time radio drama than a solid audiobook

Historia
While J. Robert Oppenheimer and his Manhattan Project team struggle to develop the A-bomb, Edward Teller wants something even more devastating: a weapon based on nuclear fusion - the mechanism that powers the sun. But Teller’s research leads to a terrifying discovery: by the year 2030, the sun will eject its outermost layer, destroying the entire inner solar system - including Earth. After the war ends, Oppenheimer’s physicists combine forces with Albert Einstein, computing pioneer John von Neumann, and rocket designer Wernher von Braun.

There are other stories about Opie that may be better but I rather like the,” alternate history” of this one. It just drug on some and I don’t have interest in the not related film. Big fan of author but this one was ok.

Historia
In a world just parallel to ours exists a mystical realm known only as the Gardens. It’s a place where feasts never end, games of croquet have devastating consequences, and teenagers are punished for growing up. For a select group of masters, it’s a decadent paradise where time stands still. But for those who serve them, it’s a slow torture where their lives can be ended in a blink. In a bid to escape before their youth betrays them, Dora and Thistle - best friends and confidants - set out on a remarkable journey through time and space.

Just not a good experience
Revisado: 05-19-23
This story and narration is awful. It’s smarmy, and has that 90’s sonic the hedgehog hella ‘tude; specifically the protagonist. I couldn’t get a refund after an hour of this tripe and forced myself to listen to it. It made everything was doing worse. It’s fallacious, not even about portals! Avoid this.
