Historia
Intelligent, majestic, and loyal, with lifespans matching our own, elephants are among the greatest of the wonders gracing the African wilds. Yet in the 1970s and 1980s, about 1,000 of these captivating creatures were slaughtered in Zambia each year, killed for their valuable ivory tusks. When biologists Mark and Delia Owens, residing in Africa to study lions, found themselves in the middle of a poaching fray, they took the only side they morally could: that of the elephants.

I really did try and stay with it, but I really had a hard time with narrators, enough that I gave up on the book.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Possibly
Would you recommend The Last Ship to your friends? Why or why not?
It was a good book, but it could have been a great book if it was edited to about 3/4 of the length.
Have you listened to any of Christopher Lane’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not
Do you think The Last Ship needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Well, it did leave open the possibility for a second, but I am not sure I would read it.

One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
Alan Furst's latest novel takes place in the secret hotels, nightclubs, and cafes of occupied Paris and the villages of France during the spring of 1941, when Britain was losing the war. Many of the characters are resistance fighters who run an escape line for British airmen down to Spain; they include men and women, old and young, all strong - an aristocrat, a Jewish teacher - and the hero is a hero, has a gun, and uses it.

Leonora, known to some as Lee and others as Nora, is a reclusive crime writer, unwilling to leave her nest of an apartment unless it is absolutely necessary. When a friend she hasn't seen or spoken to in years unexpectedly invites Nora ( Lee) to a weekend away in an eerie glass house deep in the English countryside, she reluctantly agrees to make the trip. Forty-eight hours later, she wakes up in a hospital bed injured but alive, with the knowledge that someone is dead.

Ehhh
Revisado: 11-13-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It was an OK read, but I hated the forced scenarios. Things like: "I could have just told the police what happened, but the words wouldn't come out." What? So you can avoid jail time by just explaining what happened, but you can't say a word, so you risk jail instead? Yea, that's totally believable. Also, some one sent a text as someone else, and you couldn't figure that out for 10 plus years?
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
It wrapped up nicely. The end was the enjoyable part. Getting there was a tad tedious.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Imogen Church?
Don't know.
Could you see In a Dark, Dark Wood being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I can't. Wouldn't be that great of a movie.
