Historia
When Jeanie’s aunt gifts her the beloved Pumpkin Spice Café in the small town of Dream Harbor, Jeanie jumps at the chance for a fresh start away from her very dull desk job. Logan is a local farmer who avoids Dream Harbor’s gossip at all costs. But Jeanie’s arrival disrupts Logan’s routine and he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. Will Jeanie’s happy-go-lucky attitude win over the grumpy-but-gorgeous Logan, or has this city girl found the one person in town who won’t fall for her charm, or her pumpkin spice lattes.

Boring…Oh So Boring
Revisado: 10-16-24
I really wanted to like this book. I love a small town, cozy romance. Add in “pumpkin spice” to the mix along with a cafe as a major setting and I was really looking forward to the story. Unfortunately, the plot just plodded along and the characters weren’t horrid, but they never really hooked me. The best part was the “mini mystery” about some ongoing sabotage. And that just fizzled, too. I did like it enough to at least finish the book, though I won’t be reaching for the next books in the series.

So Enjoyable!
Revisado: 03-07-24
I’m absolutely adoring this author with her down-to-earth, highly likable characters set within the ambiance of charming English villages. I was a little surprised and initially unhappy with the change in narrator for this series on this book, but I did come to enjoy his narration. And I guess it does make sense to have a male narrator for a book who has a male character as the main or co-main character. I’m hoping the 4th book in the series will be available on Audible soon. In the meantime, I’ve enjoyed The Hope Cove and Single Dads Club series so much, I’m going to start the Loch Lannick series next.

Historia
It's nearly Christmas, Julia Devine's favourite time of the year. She's just programmed a wonderful lead into the holidays at Sunny Street Cinema, which leaves her plenty of time to worry about going home to Cumbria for Christmas. Her mum and stepdad are fine, but the thought of spending another holiday with her awful stepsister Becca is enough to make a Scrooge out of anyone. When Becca calls to let her know about the dreamy pilot she's bringing to Christmas lunch, Julia finally snaps and does something very silly.

Charming and Engaging

What a fun romp of a story. Likeable (and some fun-to-dislike) characters with a delightful RomCom feel to the story. I suspect I’ll be adding this to my re-listen list at Christmas time along with Skipping Christmas.

Something Wrong with Audio
Revisado: 02-05-20
The story was okay. Enjoyable but not one of NR’s best. The narrator was decent but the sound was very choppy. As though it were speeded up and slowed down with a weird choppy sound at times.

Great book!
Revisado: 01-17-20
I really enjoyed the two entwined stories in The Burning Room. Connelly was on his game with this Bosch novel. I really enjoyed the introduction of Lucky Lucy as Harry’s most recent partner. I hope we see more of her. I saw several people were dismissive of Titus Welliver’s performance but I suspect that’s due to getting used to one style of narration and then having someone new take over. I thought Welliver had an easy listening style and his voices were believable. Much better than a couple of the early Bosch book narrators!

Predictable and Dull
Revisado: 04-27-19
The dialogue and writing were so stilted that even a skilled narrator would have had difficulty making this book engaging. And this was just an “okay” narrator. The plot was rather dull though there was enough to it that I listened to the end. But I had absolutely no desire to read/listen to the next book in the series. I tend to dislike books where the plot is carried by a combination of misunderstandings and the main character making stupid choices and there was a lot of both in this story.

Excellent! New Favorite!
Revisado: 02-21-16
I never know when starting a series of books whether it will start strong but go downhill. I'm always hopeful since a good series will stretch my pleasure in getting to know a cast of characters in much more depth than a single book. This series held up to the very last page. The characters have become friends. So much so, that I'm seriously contemplating starting back with the first book as my next listen. I've already bought the print versions so I have them in my library, too, but the narration is top notch with great differentiation between the characters and wonderful pacing. If you've enjoyed Katniss, Ender, or Tris, you will love getting to know Darrow, Virginia, and Sevro.
