Historia
With unforgettable characters, a sweeping backdrop, and passionate storytelling, this is a fantasy debut to rival that of Robert Jordan. Filled with adventure and bloodshed, pageantry and piracy, mystery and menace, Assassin's Apprentice is the story of a royal house and the young man who is destined to chart its course through tempests of change.

unexpected moments of brilliance
Revisado: 08-19-21
It is fairly slow going at first and I'll admit that it may not be exactly my favorite style of writing for the most part, but this book will certainly win you over by the end. There are sparks of brilliance and beauty in the diction that hit you in the heart unexpectedly and there is certainly depth brewing in this opening book, both in the magic and world building, that I can't wait to uncover on the rest of the series.

Historia
The Devil's Gate, the looming barrier that keeps the demons and nightmares at bay every night of the year except for Halloween, comes crashing down. An army of steam-powered automatons, led by the Devil himself, finally gets the better of Jack of the Lantern, the man who tricked the Devil and gave us the jack o' lantern for protection on the darkest night of the year. With their steam-powered soldiers, the demons no longer fear Jack of the Lantern as they pour out in to the world to get into whatever mischief they desire.

wonderfully fun story
Revisado: 07-27-16
The author may not be the best narrator in the world, but he did an amazing thing in making this story come to life and taking the time to bring it to audio himself. I have immense respect for the efforts it must have taken to bring this book to publication on his own, well done. the story was very fun, very quick-paced, and well worth the time and money.

Historia
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Unfortunately, not for me
Revisado: 02-26-16
The story seemed to hold promise but I quickly realized I do not hold the same fervor with the 80s that the author does. Though I love sci-fi, I was definitely not the target demographic for this book.
And unfornately, I could not get past Wil Wheatons narration. For some reason it was grating, and it seemed to have almost a surfer-dude vibe to the ends of words that had me distracted from the story itself.
Maybe this was all just in my head and I am being unfair. I am glad to see that many others enjoyed it, and I hope to read more of this authors work to give it another shot. After all, not everyone can like every book, but maybe I'll find a different book to connect with the author on.
