The story moves FAST and kept me engaged so that I had a hard time putting it down! Only 1 criticism...too many repeats of the same 'info'. Girlfriend has saved him, Allison was wronged because Mike didn't choose her, etc. This did not take away from the excellence of the story.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and Paul McSorely, the narrator is one of my favorite. His voice, his story telling, his characters is like listening to a movie while doing something else. I could listen to him all day...and do!
I am so ready for book 3!

Kwen Griffith has once again written story worth reading. Set back when the West was new, a young boy watches as horrible events change his life. Only the love of his mother, and, maybe another, can put things right. Question is, is it enough? I have yet to read a book by the author and not felt the need to binge. This was no different.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and to say Paul McSorely is one of my favorite narrators is a ridiculous understatement. Paul's voice is smooth as butter and, couple that with his talent for telling a story, becoming each character, and making me feel like I'm watching a movie...well, he never disappoints.
I highly recommend!

30 mins is a tale of realizing that the world as you know it is going to end in 30 minutes. What would you do? Retaliate? Fight? Run? Hide? Join together? The people in this story all have to answer this question. all in all I find it a very interesting story, with the exception of the unnecessary similarities of the Trump Presidency and some of the issues he had as President. I wasn't too impressed with the lack of imagination regarding the Twitter account issues.
I listened to the audiobook version of this story and the narrator did a fantastic job.

This is a true mystery with a lot of twists and turns within relationships. I kept thinking that the murder was faked for personal reasons on the 'murdered'. I wondered about the twin sister and what her part in all of this truly was. Nob is a horrible character so well written that I truly disliked him. A wife that is so concerned about reputation that she is willing to hurt over the truth coming out. The Magician...his story is convoluted, to say the least, but one that must be told. And, then, there's Kay. The photographer, who sees only in shades of black and white, who loves even when holding herself aloof from being loved due to being hurt in the past. Kay's dad, the cop turned master bread maker over a botched crime scene. Remember, I said twists and turns? The author, William Bayer, does such a fantastic job of writing each character and their stories, I had a difficult time putting it down, and when I did, thinking about it until I could pick it up again.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and the narrator, Talmadge Ragan, was perfect for this role. She is a master storyteller and actress. It felt like she became each character as she shared them with me. Few are able to do that well.
I highly recommend this book, but, be prepared to get sucked in.
Enjoy!

Pat Herbert wrote an excellent mystery! I can usually spot the killer pretty quick, but, this one took a few turns I wasn't expecting. I actually DID know who the killer was, but I did not KNOW him to be who I thought he was. You'll have to read the book to understand what I'm talking about.
Brothers, Jim and Barney, have an excellent relationship. They accept each other as they are, step up when the other needs something and, just because they are men in the 1960's they aren't afraid to tell each other that they are cared for and needed.
I especially appreciated that this story also shared their personal lives, within the mysteries they are working on to solve.
And, Muriel (did I spell that correct?), their new secretary. Well, that girl is a definite plus in this story. I love her and I love her grit and determination to go after what she wants.
I listened tot he audiobook version of this book (hence why I wasn't sure of the name spelling) and Angus Freathy's narration brought this story to life for me. He gave me a picture for each character based on how their voice sounded (don't we all do that?) and, rather than 'reading the book', he told the story to me. Excellent narration.
Excellent book.

The concept of traveling through time to be able to see progress, or the lack of, is interesting at it's best. I loved how this was done.
I listened to the audiobook version of this book and Kathleen Strecker did a fantastic job of telling the story (not just reading it).
I enjoyed it

Kay Dew Shostack is so talented! I've read all but the last book of her Chancey series (I have it, though!) and LOVE them all!! The Shrimp Did It is the 3rd of the Southern Beach series. And my Favorite!! (So far!!) I love the ladies, young, younger and old. The way they band together and help through each crisis and come up with a plan of action. Annie is someone I can relate to, while Jewel (the main character) would definitely be someone I'd want as a friend.
I listened to the audiobook version of this and, once again, Suzanne Babetta knocks It out of the park!
I've heard there's a 3rd series, so I may have to check it out!

A different kind of Vampire story

Most of the vampire stories I have read have either been back in the Victorian time, or in present time. this one is set in the cowboy time. I found that I liked it! Peter is not your run of the mill vampire, however, he is actually a vampire who hunts other vampires. He is also a part of a werewolf pack and his love interest, Feather, is part of that pack. I didn't read the 1st book, so I'm not sure how that happened, but it definitely did not take away from book 2. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and C.J. McAllister has definitely got the voice for it! His gruff voice is perfect for this character. He tells a great story!
I hope to listen to the next in the series.

There's absolutely nothing in this book having to do with 'murder for hire'. I'd be really interested to know why the author decided on that title. The majority of this book is narrative. Basically a monologue. There were many times that I actually thought about putting it down, but I was interested enough to want to find out what happened and see if, at some point, there actually was a murder for hire completed. I listen to the audiobook version of this book, and Dan Delgado has a great voice and does a really good job with the narration.

I wonder what I would do if I tripped over a body? Well Colleen did what most of us would do...panic. Newly divorced, working to raise 2 teens and simply survive life at the moment, Colleen is a relatable character. She is doing the best she knows how with what she's got and with the support of her family, she is able to get it done. My favorite scene is when she took the broom to her ex-husband. So much humor in this book!
I listened to the audiobook version of this and, once again, Meghan Kelly ROCKS. Meghan is a true story teller who brings the characters to life.
I highly recommend!
