Historia
When Ashdyke Manor is attacked, Lady Christen is forced to witness her husband's murder and the pillaging of her lands at the hands of brutal Norman invaders. It seems the pain is finally over when Miles Le Gallois, Lord of Milnham-on-Wye, calls off the attack. But he has Christen's brother under armed guard and a deal to offer: her brother's freedom for her hand in marriage. Christen finds herself hastily married into the enemy side, with her brother swearing his vengeance on her new husband.

Chadwick does it again!
Revisado: 02-23-24
I have been reading historical novels for nearly 70 years. I have read many books by exceptional authors whose stories were set in medieval England. Elizabeth Chadwick stands out as one of the finest authors of this genre. Her books are historically accurate, giving the reader the feeling of actually being there but she does not bore you with dates. Both the female and male protagonists are endowed with both strengths and weaknesses. The richness of emotions that are explored by her characters feel authentic for the time and place. Her stories draw you in quickly, are packed with adventure, trials and tribulations and romance. The relationship between the hero and heroine was realistic, beset with problems that are still salient today and others unique to the time. I highly recommend The Coming of The Wolf. A great read by a brilliant author. Thank You Ms. Chadwick!

William Marshal, England's greatest knight, begins a pilgrimage to the Holy Land with his brother, Ancel - a perilous journey that will have lasting impact for the rest of his life. William and Ancel become embroiled in the deadly politics of Jerusalem, devious scheming and lusts of the powerful men and women who rule the kingdom. Becoming entangled with the dangerous, mercurial Pascia de Riveri, concubine of the highest churchman in the land, William treads a path so dangerous that there seems no way back for him, or Ancel.

Another amazing tale about William Marshall
Revisado: 06-28-23
Elizabeth Chadwick is clearly one of the most talented writers in today’s historical romance genre. Everyone of her books about the life of William Marshall, combines excitement romance within the context of historical accuracy. Miss Chadwick obviously does a tremendous amount of historical research to make sure her stories are accurate and are placed foremost in the telling of these exciting tales. I highly recommend the Templar Silks to any reader of historical fiction. If you ever travel to London, you should visit the Templar church where William Marshall is buried. It is a moving tribute to him that his tomb was carefully repaired after it was hit during the world war two blitz.

A true historical romance
Revisado: 02-18-23
Many romance, writers describe their stories as set in historical times, but provide little historical context. Not so Ann Easter Smith’s “Royal Mistress.” This was an absolutely beautiful novel combining fascinating information about medieval London, the reign of Edward IV and the struggles of a woman attempting to control her own destiny - Jane Shore. Jane was King Edward’s mistress for the last eight years of his reign. Ms. Smith describes Jane’s triumphs and tribulations during and after her time with the king. The characters are drawn in detail, describing both their strengths and weaknesses. The romantic relationship between Jane and King Edward and the conflicted feelings she had about other men in her life who desired her was well done. Ms. Smith also deftly described the plight of most women in the Middle Ages who were totally dependent on the men in their lives for their literal survival. This is an astonishing true story that takes you to a very different world and time. I loved every word.

Romance, adventure, mystery, and a happy ending
Revisado: 01-22-23
This is the first Audible rendition of a Sherry Thomas novel I have listened to and I was not disappointed. The story was captivating and beautifully presented. Ms. Thomas’ stories are compelling and the growth in the characters over time is skillfully developed. The love-making is quite steamy but is not the main focus of the storyline as many historical romances are today. I ran the battery down on my iPad because I couldn’t stop listening to story. I highly recommend “His at Night.”
