Geddy Lee is one of rock and roll's most respected bassists. For nearly five decades, his playing and work as co-writer, vocalist and keyboardist has been an essential part of the success story of Canadian progressive rock trio Rush. Here for the first time is his account of life inside and outside the band.

Honest to the core.
Revisado: 12-04-23
Geddy pulls back the layers of his past and shares with us what formed him, the circumstances that allowed three incredible musicians meet and create, and the joy and pain of the process. As a Rush fan since 1977, this book answered a lot of questions for me.

Historia
In the early days of the Civil War, rumors of gold in the frozen Klondike brought hordes of newcomers to the Pacific Northwest. Anxious to compete, Russian prospectors commissioned inventor Leviticus Blue to create a great machine that could mine through Alaska’s ice. Thus was Dr. Blue’s Incredible Bone-Shaking Drill Engine born.

What can I say... I got sucked in...
Revisado: 09-26-18
What a great story, and having it read in turns by Wil Wheaton and Kate Reading just made it that much more special. I read the hardback, then during my 2018 September of Priest I listened to the Audible story... followed by Dreadnought and Ganymede.
Ms. Priest has created an alternative history world that I thoroughly enjoyed: Civil War era America in the Northwest US and the sh*t has hit the fan!
I cared about the characters and the genre didn't overwhelm the story. I helped carry the action, but it didn't rely on it. Thanks, Cherie!

Revisado: 09-26-18
Christopher Moore did it again. He made me jealous. Why can't I create these worlds? Wow!
Writing a review of a Christopher Moore story is difficult because it's too easy throw in spoilers as it is exciting to talk about ALL the WEIRD sh*t CM creates. Johnny Heller does a great job of reading and adding to the noir... see what I did there?

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

I really like Norse things... Vikings, Thor, Odin, Valhalla... all of it. Neil Gaiman weaves all this into an entertaining and interesting work that HE reads to you. How can you go wrong? It's nearly perfection!

The story is sublime. The reading incredible. The premise fantastical. I have yet to be disappointed by a Neil Gaiman work of art.

Just listen to it! You won't be disappointed.
Revisado: 09-26-18
You already know the story, and if you're like me you can recite it line for line (like I do with Holy Grail and other classics I wasted brain cells on instead of Theoretical Physics or Freshman Algebra). However, you've never heard it told from the perspective of the characters that witnessed it all happening around them... and their stories, their lives, their fears and dreams... really fun!

Historia
Nurse Mercy Lynch is elbows deep in bloody laundry at a war hospital in Richmond, Virginia, when Clara Barton comes bearing bad news: Mercy's husband has died in a POW camp. On top of that, a telegram from the west coast declares that her estranged father is gravely injured, and he wishes to see her. Mercy sets out toward the Mississippi River. Once there, she'll catch a train over the Rockies and—if the telegram can be believed—be greeted in Washington Territory by the sheriff, who will take her to see her father in Seattle.

Cherie Priest delivers!
Revisado: 09-26-18
I am new to the genre so I asked for recommendations a year or so ago. Cherie Priest's series was recommended and I have not been disappointed. She cleverly weaves in details from the previous story without it becoming overbearing. The premise she has created is fun and frightening at the same time. You can't go wrong. This listener recommends going in order... buts that's me... the stories stand on their own...
