Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

A beautifully written and performed book. Especially given the hellish subject and time. Very much worth the time. I suspect I will go and purchase a physical copy.

Normally I only got through 4, maybe 5 books on a series. I just finished the 14th and I an NOT ready to say goodbye! Love the characters, plots, and furry critters. So well done, I'm going to be re listening to these repeatedly

Historia
Liesl and Erich have found a home in Ireland away from the chaos of war-ravaged Europe. As the dark news of what has happened to the Jews filters through, they are torn—love for their mother and their home on one hand, and the profound sense of peace and belonging they have in Ballycreggan on the other. Like all of the other children who escaped Nazi territory on the Kindertransport, they must wait to hear the fate of their loved ones.

This is the second of the series, and I am quickly falling in love with the characters. It is well written, merging 2 very different cultures into a beautiful narrative. The author has been able to show both sides, charity and atrocities, without minimizing either during a horrific time in world history.

Dark
Revisado: 03-05-21
Very dark. Typically I really enjoy mystery/thriller books. This one, not so. Starting with a LEO suicide, and continuing with the murder case that drove the officer to that end. Definitely not one I will finish. After only 1 1/2 hours, it has left me cold and empty.
On to something a bit more uplifting. Maybe, Silence of the Lamb's.......

Historia
On a dark, wintry day, Eliza Grey receives a mysterious letter from her ailing Nana Mora begging her to come for a visit. This is an easy "Yes". Eliza has always preferred Nana Mora's beach cottage on St. Simons Island to the apartment she and her mom call home in the city. The island is a magical place where stories and legends grow as thick as the Spanish moss dangling in the trees. Now, Nana Mora's eyesight is fading, and there's something she wants to show Eliza before it’s totally gone: a mythical place locals refer to as Sirens Harbor.
