What a wonderful monster romance by BL Maxwell. Wouldn't it be cool to live in a world where monsters walk among us?

This book is part of a multi-authored series called Monster Match. I haven't read any of the other books in this series but I probably will now. This book by BL Maxwell is the only one available in audio at this time. When I saw this pop up on Booksprout I figured I'd give it a try and I'm glad I did.

Guy Veryzer did a great job with all the different voices and he nailed Gunnar's voice. I did speed up the narration, as I do with all the books I listen to that are narrated by Guy, his drawl is a bit too slow for me.

Gunnar is a troll from Iceland that has been living an isolated life. He's been very lonely and decides he wants/needs to find his mate. He faces several obstacles and prejudices when starting a new job and a new life in this very human world.

Learning new things, new friends and family, communing with trees, fated mates, the perfect match

Lou's redemption song!

This is book 2 in the Blood-rights series. This book is written in a style that's a bit different from the rest of the series... This book is written from one person's POV and I loved it. I wasn't sure I was going to, since most books are told from both MC's perspectives, I should have known Jae wouldn't let me/us down.

As always, if you have been following my reviews, you know I always reread the last book in the series before starting the newest book. It's a nice refresher for me and I always find something that I missed in the first read. So in this instance I listened to Dante before starting book 2, Bite Twice.

The narrator, Lance West, did a great job and helped bring Jae's story to life. In fact I loved it so much I listened to it twice. Now I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Vincent in audio.

Oh the machinations of those who were supposed to love, support, and protect Lou. Now all the Lou haters can breathe a sigh of relief. Jae has intricate plans for each of her characters and only she knows how it's all going to end. Just hang on tight, you know it will be a bumpy ride that will be totally worth it!!!

⚠️WARNING LABEL - If you haven't read all the books in Jae's Fire Ridge Pride series then go no further, this book will be meaningless if read out of order. Start with Lou, Fire Ridge Pride book 1.

*Audiobook update: I'm so glad Kasia Bacon decided to release this in audio. I just finished listening and I loved it. Rowan Scott did an amazing job with the narration. This is the first book I've listened to narrated by him and I look forward to more.

*3/9/24 ebook review: This is only the third story I've read by Kasia Bacon and the second book set in the Order universe. I recently read The Mutt, book 1 in the series The Order. This universe is so interesting that I was intrigued and wanted more. Both stories were quick reads, with fully fleshed out stories. I especially loved the glossary, it's always nice to have more detail about a made up world which only exists in the mind of this author and the pages of the book.

I can't wait to see what the author has in store for these two guys after stating that she's taken a shine to them. Just a little teaser to keep us coming back for more.

I'm a bit disappointed in this really short story. Michael Dean did a fantastic job with the narration, as always, but the book was way too short. I'm not sure how to feel after listening to this. There's nothing in the book blurb that indicates that this is a prequel, to an upcoming book. If this was a prequel then maybe I wouldn't judge this story so harshly, knowing there was more to come. Normally I enjoy books written by Gabbi Grey.

I feel like this should be rated as a dubcon book because that's what it seemed like to me. This book left me uncomfortable due to one of the character's deceitfulness. Maybe this is just a me thing. I read other reviews and I felt like I listened to a different book than they did. Oh well, this happens occasionally.

Who is Rayne and what is he running from?

On the run, Rayne returns to Everett and Mission City...

This is book 4 in the series, Love in Mission City by Gabbi Grey. Michael Dean did the narration of this one and did a fantastic job, as usual. He's one of my favorite narrators!

To answer the question I posed in Rayne Check, a short story set in this world, you do not have to listen or read Rayne Check before reading or listening to this one. It will give you insight on how they met and the animosity Everett feels, which is an added bonus but not a necessity.

I will say I wanted to slap Rayne upside the head for being so stubborn in revealing more about what has happened to him. I loved Everett's family and how they opened their arms to Rayne and treated him like one of the family.

This story dragged in parts and bringing in several past characters was unnecessary to me. I know that bringing in past characters from other books is a current theme for authors and most readers love this. I want to focus on the main characters and their story. I want to understand who they are and how they got to where they are today. These are my pet peeves and like I said above most readers love this, I read it all the time in other reader's reviews.

Would I recommend this book, yes! If you love Gabbi Grey and this series set in Mission City I'm sure you'll enjoy this one as well.

Opposites attract, age gap, secrets abound, just who are the bad guys

This is a short story written by Gabbi Grey, narrated by Michael Dean. Michael Dean is one of my favorite narrators and has the knack of bringing a book to life.

This story appears to be a prequel to Rayne's Return. Everett meets Rayne for the first time at a Halloween costume party. This is basically their meet cute, or I guess in this situation, it's more of a wham bam thank you man type of thing.

There's a bit of a mystery with who Rayne is and who actually invited him to the party.

Do you need to read this before Rayne's Return??? I'll have to get back to you on that. I'm diving into Rayne's Return next.

This is the conclusion to Henry's Secret by author KuroKoneko Kamen. The narration, by LaMont Ridgell, was spot on just like in the first part of this 2 part story.

Will Henry finally reveal his secret before it's too late??? You'll have to listen or read this yourself to find out, no spoilers here.

With his ragtag group of adventurers called the Cursebreakers, they set out on a journey to Henry's home in the Fairy Kingdom in Enchancia. Their mission is to find the spell that will heal Henry before he succumbs to hanahaki and dies due to unrequited love.

Swedish Death cleaning

New to me narrator Jaxon Jensen did a great job with the narration of Sophia Soames book. This is only the second book I've read/listened to by Sophia and I loved them both.

This story is both heartfelt and heartwarming it left me with all the feels. There wasn't one eye roll on my part throughout the whole book. Recent books that I've read or listened to have been causing me to have lots of eye rolls because they are so unbelievable.

I'm definitely putting this on my 'to listen again' list.

Dealing with the loss of a father, bullying, an encounter that changed their lives, Swedish death cleaning is an interesting concept, two lonely men, second chances, hurt/comfort, beautifully written, soulful

What a great story by a 'new to me' author KuroKoneko Kamen. The narration, by LaMont Ridgell, was fantastic. The voices he used...

Poor Prince Henry. He's bullied by his classmates, he's exiled by his father the king, and his mother bestows her powers upon him at her death and gives Harry a mission... these are just the things that happened to poor Prince Harry at the beginning of the book. With a ragtag group of adventurers called the Cursebreakers they travel the countryside rooting out evil.

This journey isn't over, I can't wait to listen to part 2. I'm rooting for Harry, he needs an HEA.

If you get the book on Amazon it has great anime illustrations. I wish I'd pulled the book up while I was listening so I could see these illustrations as LaMont narrated.

Loved this!!!

Emerson Beckett is a fairly 'new to me' author. I read the first book in the Package Deal series and I listened to this one in a new duet series called We Can Do This, which is a crossover from The Package Deal series. Characters from the original series appear in this book.

Narrators Michael Ferraluolo and Kevin Earlywine did a fantastic job with the narration bringing life to this book.

17 year age gap, lack of communication between characters, relationship angst, third act breakup, hard one HEA
