If you like anime and/or DnD, this bool is for you

Do you want a very light book that can make you giggle? Do you enjoy Anime and or DnD but are disappointed where the darker aspects such as torture/mutillation/sexual abuse/substance abuse/murder are only hinted at? Do you want to actually get an unhinged protagonist that is like the anti-Christ and follow them on a rags to riches story? Then get this. It's not a smart book. The prose is very basic, but easy to go through. The gags are all anime tropes, except they don't stop at the point where a TV show would have to be censored. The story is very basic, like a tabletop gamemaster had a single player at the table and made things up as they went along, and Deus Ex Machinad every one of the protagonist's problems. The humour comes from the protagonist actually taking advantage of the boons granted them, rather than being all pure of heart and heroic. It feels gratifying to finally have a main character that doesn't pretend to be morally complex and fight their baser instincts. Also if you're a young woman and you feel like there's no power fantasies for you, this is the ultimate power fantasy.

This tale of summer vacation seen through the eyes of naive children will remind readers of the magical way of thinking youth offers, as well as the painful disenchantment of becoming self-aware. The vignettes of the town's distinct inhabitants gives Bradbury's world a sense of genuine life.

Having studied Mishima's works I can't recommend this book and its sequel enough. They can be read in either order and be just as impactful. The ending of the Sea of fertility might be a bit rushed, but, the first two books are a must for anyone who desires a taste of Japanese classics.

A must read for anyone into dystopia or sci-fi. Bradbury does it again. His story can shift from whimsical to oppressive to apocalyptic and to hopeful, without you even noticing.

It must be said that once you read this you might feel a bit of concern for the direction that media is taking nowadays. Enlightening, scary and brilliant.

Not the best of Mann's works

After hearing my professor reference this book so much and reading some other works by the author, I really wanted to go through at a deliberate pace. It was a bit of an underwhelming experience, but I kept turning the pages as Mann's style is great. All and all not that exciting, but, if you're in a contemplative mood or want a good philosophical discussion on the european conception of aesthetics, I would suggest this book.

I'll be honest. After coming to this book, right after a fantasy novel marathon, I had some trouble getting into it. Luckily, the awe worthy wordsmanship kept me listening. Once the mood had been set and I had become acquainted with the titular character, I was hooked. If ever while listening to this book you feel like the descriptions off the character's frivolous lives are running the pace, just take a break and go sentence by sentence thinking of while the implications of every thing these people do, while focusing on the phrase "Everyone already knows everything". Even if you end up not adding this book to your favorites, I can vouch that you will come out the better for listening to it, and 5 hours isn't that much of a sacrifice, now, it's it?

Are any series-long questions answered? NO. Do we get a definitive ending? NO. Do we get any details that change the reading of previous parts in the saga? NO. What we do get is some beautiful insights into the world and characters, some of the most exciting of Geralt's adventures, real stakes despite this being a prequel and Sapkowski's unique style and humor at its finest. Great for series veterans AND newcomers who aren't sure whether or not they'll like the saga, but want a taste. The vocal performance is stellar as well.

Performance left me awestruck.
Descriptions were breath-taking yet easy to understand, very well worded.
If you want a good read on consumerist culture presented through an ironic lens, this is THE book.

I cannot find the words to describe how enlightened I feel after listening to this. Despite having already heard most of the things in this book through the author's lectures which are available online, having them all compiled in an orderly fashion, boiled down to their essence and fortified with poignant anecdotes and explanations of biological, philosophical and psychological concepts related to them and then read by the author himself with so much passion(at some points his voice is either refusing to stop mid-sentence despite exhaustion or on the brink of tears) is an experience so powerful you cannot help but actually pay attention and let those dark thoughts that you've been avoiding surface and resolve themselves under the light of awareness. Not only does this book make us think of our personal problems that we like to disregards, but it extends to over-arching societal issues and it makes us think of solutions and ways in which we may have put off those solutions. If you've never heard of the author, this would be the best place to start. It will change your life. If you are a fan of Peterson's, definitely pick up this book, just to make sure you haven't been wilfully ignoring any of the advice you may have already heard. A must-have for every English-speaker living in the first decades of the 21st century.
