Might Be My Favorite
Revisado: 06-27-25
I am so spoiled by romances with two narrators that I was surprised to love this audiobook so much. Author Louise Bay has outdone herself with lovers Tuesday and Ben, all told from Tuesday's wry and upbeat point of view. In spite of recent personal setbacks, including the ending of a 10 year relationship, Tuesday's cheerful optimism and refusal to be negative, proves to be irresistible both to readers and to the reserved and grumpy Ben. Listeners quickly see that Tuesday is a people-pleaser, and so does Ben. When he starts insisting that Tuesday decide what she wants, then we can be sure that this story will have a happy ending. I love the author's use of a famous fictional film actor's movies as a basis for much of the movement in this rom-com.

Historia
Lana Fleming’s sister has vanished from the set of TV’s hottest show, and no one seems to care. Desperate for answers, Lana sneaks in as an extra, only to get stranded with Griffin Hart, an A-list action star with a reputation for good abs and bad decisions. Though Griffin didn’t expect to be cast as a librarian’s sidekick in a real-life thriller, he’s weirdly into it—and into her. Even more unsettling—she sees right through his playboy persona. But their meet-cute soon turns deadly when they uncover a Hollywood scandal for the ages.

Good Story
Revisado: 06-24-25
This book is a sweet romantic comedy and a pretty good mystery, too. Each of the main characters has trust issues for entirely different reasons, but they want to trust one another right from the start. While trying to solve the mystery of Lana's missing sister, who seems to be involved in some way with an extortion ring that targets celebrities, they learn quite a bit about their own personal histories. A few serious issues are addressed, but basically, this is a romp!

Historia
I’m stuck in New York after ma agent makes a bloody mess of an otherwise good endorsement contract for a sports towel company, and this crazy American holiday - Thanksgiving - is in two days. The invitation to spend it in Mendon, Massachusetts with the Jacoby family is about as appealing as rotten haggis. As far as I can tell, Thanksgiving is about stuffing yerself silly, watching pathetic American “football”, while fighting with relatives ye only see once a year. Ma firm answer is nae. Until I remember Amy is part of the family. Suddenly, I’m available. Eager, even.

Just the beginning
Revisado: 06-22-25
It may seem unusual to love a story and to adore the narrators but be a bit annoyed overall. However, when you buy a romance and realize that it is just the beginning of the story, and that there are more books to purchase before you get the entire story, then it is a legitimate complaint.
Charming characters and stellar narration, funny situations and a solid plot are the positives. Be prepared to buy the rest of the books if you want to read the whole story.

Historia
In an isolated olive grove on the idyllic Aegean island of Tinos, revered by religious pilgrims around the world as the Lourdes of Greece, two bodies charred beyond recognition are discovered, chained together amid bits and pieces of an incinerated Greek flag. An enraged press screams for justice for the unknown victims, until the dead are identified as gypsies, after which the story simply fades away. When the government orders the investigation closed, Inspector Andreas Kaldis, feared head of Greece’s special crimes division, has other plans.

Intrigue in the Greek Islands
Revisado: 06-19-25
When Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis is called upon by his superior to close a murder case rather than let it gain traction in the foreign press, he can't let it go unsolved. Only days before his wedding, Andreas locks horns with an unknown murderer whose motives seem to have roots in an independence movement founded two hundred years ago.
This is an excellent series of character driven police procedural.

Love These Characters
Revisado: 06-19-25
Although I do enjoy the zany plots and impossible situations that most of author Pippa Grant's characters get into, this is probably one of the most straightforward and probable stories in her catalog of rom-coms. Still, this is one of my favorite of her romances. Her pairing of famous, singing heartthrob, Levi Wilson with bookstore owner and single mother of three, Ingrid, is one of the best stories ever.
New-to-me narrators, Summer Roberts and Tyler Donne are perfect voices for the lovers.

Historia
On the celebrated Greek island of Mykonos, a legendary nightclub owner is found in his home…bludgeoned to death. In his lifetime he had helped transform Mykonos from an obscure, impoverished Aegean island into a world-renowned summertime playground for the world's rich and powerful, which made the Mykonian people some of the wealthiest in Greece. All evidence points to obvious killers, but the murder has put into play some long-hidden, politically explosive secrets and drawn a dangerous foreign investor to the island paradise.

Intrigue and Action
Revisado: 06-11-25
Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis has taken possession of a packet of very incriminating files found in a dead man's safe. Some very unsavory characters will resort to any means in order to get those files. With a senior official prepared to throw them to the wolves and a ruthless international criminal behind the scheme, Andreas, Tassos and Yianni must use their wits and the loyalty of their friends to save their own lives and prevent a huge criminal enterprise from gaining a foothold on Mykonos. Terrific narration.

Historia
Saint John wrote the apocalyptic Book of Revelation over 19 hundred years ago in a cave on Greece’s eastern Aegean island of Patmos. But now there has been a murder. A revered monk from that holy island’s thousand-year-old monastery is murdered in Patmos’ town square during Easter week. Called in on the matter is Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis of Greece’s Special Crimes Division. Kaldis must find the killer before all hell breaks loose—in a manner of speaking.

Great Series
Revisado: 06-08-25
Intrigue abounds as Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis of the Special Crimes Division is asked to investigate the murder of a monk on the island of Patmos. When Andreas and his sargeant, Yianni arrive at the crime scene, it has already been cleaned up and the local authorities are reluctant to aide in his investigation. How he was given this assignment and the fact that there is a link to a scandal involving Greek monasteries and the Orthodox Church itself just add to the mysteries. When a scheme to bring the culprit to justice seems to have backfired on Andreas' own moral sensibility, and his safety, you wonder if solving crimes is worth the personal toll. But trust the author not to let our hero down.

Historia
Anthony Shackleford had long been acquainted with the word duty. Indeed, since the moment he could walk, it had been drummed into him every Friday between the hours of two and four in the afternoon, accompanied by tea and apple cake. His mother had always been especially partial to apple cake. The essence of his obligation was this. The Duke of Blackmore could not be expected to keep his in-laws into their twilight years. Despite the fact that his sisters had all made extremely advantageous marriages, as the only son, it was his job to ensure his parents a comfortable dotage.

Perfect Ending
Revisado: 06-08-25
Author Beverley Watts' hilarious series featuring the nine children of the bumbling, blustering Reverend Augustus Shackleford ends with his youngest and only boy, Anthony finding love. Told with idiomatic expressions and colorful epithets commonly spoken 200 years ago, the last boy-meets-girl rom com in this series also has plenty of intrigue and action. The author's stalwart recurring characters once again defeat the dastardly villains, smoothing the way for the lovers to reach their HEA.

Chief Andres Kaldis is a wonderful character. My husband and I are both fans of author Jeffrey Siger's series set in Athens and the Greek Islands. The plots are complex, exciting and feel possible. I recently decided to listen to the audiobooks because it had been a while since I had read them. The narrator is terrific, a perfect match for these stories.
