Historia
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Prepare yourself for a transformative experience. Sometimes, life's setbacks contain hidden gifts. Here at Lakewood, you'll find the space to unwrap them. A weekend at the Lakewood Retreat is exactly what Chloe Powell needs. Freshly unemployed after her boss loses a reelection campaign, the former press secretary desperately wants a break from the bustle of Washington DC. A flier posted at her yoga studio leads her to the getaway, which looks amazing: organic meals, celebrity testimonials, and a serene private property within driving distance of the city.

It is 1857, and Reverend Geoffrey Wilson has departed England to prove the literal truth of the Bible. The expedition heads towards Tasmania, where he is convinced he will find the real Garden of Eden. But the other passengers have their own agendas. Dr Potter is developing a sinister thesis, and the ship is crewed by smugglers of contraband brandy and tobacco. As the English passengers near Peevay's land, their bizarre notions become painfully at odds with reality.

Tedious
Revisado: 02-26-20
Simple story that was draw out beyond any reason, simple characters that acted within the predictable roles; fortunately I fell asleep though much of it and only went back once to understand the change in predictable action somewhere after to 10 hour mark.

Best way to get past her voice is to play at 1.5 speed, also great way to get the story to move along at a bearable pace.

Historia
"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says ( Publishers Weekly).

Relaxing listen, puts me right to sleep every time
Revisado: 12-15-19
Hardly worth all the silly praise of “some” reviewers.
Hardly edge of seat intrigue or drama, mostly just a nicely written and narrated piece of fiction playing off historical moments in US/Soviet relationship .
I bypassed thru entire chapters and never missed a beat same old actors playing the same games in a new moment of intrigue.

The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

A disgustingly pathetic, yet wholly insightful view into the minds of women.
Revisado: 04-05-16
I am stunned by the brutal honesty of the emotional machinations of the female mind.
It is a brilliantly crafted story and production.
I just find the female characters; thoughts, character and actions to be so hopelessly pathetic and yet hauntingly spot on and depressingly insightful that I find myself deeply distraught that women have to navigate these emotions and that good men and especially my boys will risk the manipulation of these destructive beings.
