Historia
From prehistoric Mexico to modern Istanbul, Mary Beard looks beyond the familiar canon of Western imagery to explore the history of art, religion, and humanity. Conceived as an accompaniment to How Do We Look and The Eye of Faith, the famed Civilizations shows on PBS, renowned classicist Mary Beard has created this elegant volume on how we have looked at art.

Art History with Your Eyes Closed? Yes!
Revisado: 07-10-21
After I purchased this audio book, i wondered if i'd made a mistake; how could I enjoy a book about imagery without *seeing* the images?
Fortunately, Mary Beard is such a wonderful storyteller that I felt like I was seeing every artwork she described, I have a clear image in my mind of that spot on the statue of Aphrodite! Ultimately this fascinating book is about how we create and respond to images rather than about his or that particular brushstroke, and the Author gives you all the information you need about every image to follow the narrative.
