Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

The Best Book Series on Earth
Revisado: 02-12-25
I truly believe this is the best book series I've ever read. The combo of Matt's incredible writing and Jeff's narration cannot be topped!! I have already been privy to the book through Patreon, but the narration is bringing it to life and I'm laughing in public as we speak. Do not listen in a quiet place- you'll snort laugh and embarrass yourself. Thank you guys for another INCREDIBLE book!! I can't wait to see what happens next.

Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Mona isn't like the wizards charged with defending the city. She can't control lightning or speak to water. Her familiar is a sourdough starter, and her magic only works on bread. She has a comfortable life in her aunt's bakery making gingerbread men dance. But Mona's life is turned upside down when she finds a dead body on the bakery floor. An assassin is stalking the streets of Mona's city, preying on magic folk, and it appears that Mona is his next target. And in an embattled city suddenly bereft of wizards, the assassin may be the least of Mona's worries.

Not her best, but good!
Revisado: 03-11-24
I think I got spoiled with Jude's beautiful and intricate story. I'm having trouble finding the same captivation with Oak. I hope she writes more about Jude and her high king going to the undersea! Holly Black is truly a great writer. I enjoyed this story a lot, it just wasn't quite as good as her previous books.

Meh
Revisado: 03-09-24
The writing isn't great, and if you enjoy things making sense this book will greatly irritate you. For example, Clara ducked under the vampire's arms to get away from him, but then the next moment she's still standing right in front of him with no description how she got there. It's like movie scenes edited to go together but that don't line up. This happens a lot. Clara is also oblivious and painfully thick throughout the book and has "revelations" that the reader figured out pages ago. The narrator also doesn't do a good job with heightened fear or emotions. She sounds exactly the same all through the book. Male narrator is good. This book is also very repetitive. If I had to read one more time- he bent to my neck and I waited for him to bite, but he didn't- I may have quit before the end. Meh. Won't be finishing the series.

First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power.

Good, but not the same
Revisado: 02-25-24
I fell in LOVE with JMM1. I was so excited for the follow up! I tried so so hard to be really open minded with the new narrator... he just fell short. I could even pick out the points where I would have been laughing with the previous narrator that just didn't get there this time. For example, naming the guy Lava Lamp would have killed me last time! This time I just smiled ruefully, wishing it had landed. The writing is great and the story is really good. I'm sure I'll finish the series, but I truly wish the narrator could figure out a way to deliver those funny moments better. The ends of the chapters were weird. I kept reaching for my phone to see if the app had quit working because every time he ended the sentence without any finality in his voice and it left you waiting for an immediate continuance, and the pause was so long before the next chapter that it left me thinking the app had stopped. Even the last line of the book! I literally heard the final sentence, and I was wholly confused and surprised when the guy came on to say it was the end. The narrator just doesn't close out chapters and pauses well at all. I know everybody tried hard, and I hate being that reader. I honestly hope the author chooses a different narrator for the rest of the books. Jeff Hayes would be awesome! I enjoyed the story overall, and really liked the new characters. I'll finish the series for sure and continue to support this great author and his wonderful writing, just a little disappointed. I may just read the remainder and skip Audible, but that's a shame because I truly love audio books and how they come to life! That being said, a big thank you to everyone who worked so hard on this book. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Revisado: 06-09-23
"I am once again sticky and displeased." Oh House, how you make me laugh out loud! Another fantastic installment of one of the best series of all times! I really hope these books go on forever, they are so good! Ned and friends pick up where we left them and continue to have epic battles with such imagination of creatures, locations, and scenarios. I enjoyed Ned's progression and new powers, but once again, House and Frank really steal the show! Some of the best characters ever written and brought to life incredibly by the narrator. If you've loved and laughed with this series so far, it only gets better. I love it!
