Historia
For centuries, the vineyards at Château Renard have depended on the talent of their vine witches, whose spells help create the world-renowned wine of the Chanceaux Valley. Then the skill of divining harvests fell into ruin when sorcière Elena Boureanu was blindsided by a curse. Now, after breaking the spell that confined her to the shallows of a marshland and weakened her magic, Elena is struggling to return to her former life. And the vineyard she was destined to inherit is now in the possession of a handsome stranger.

Wonderful Witchy Work of Art
Revisado: 11-22-19
A delightful listen. The story is creative and captivating. A fairytale, a murder mystery and a love story all rolled into one with a glass of wine to go with it.
The author brought the world she created to life in my mind. I felt like I was there viewing everything from the shadow world. The descriptions were so vivid.
Too bad I listened in my car while driving and therefore could not enjoy a glass of wine while enjoying the story.
I think this story will be around to entertain generations of audible listeners.

So very funny
Revisado: 09-20-19
I read David Goggins book Can’t Hurt Me first and had a sneaking suspicion that the seal referred to in this book may be David so I read it. It was an incredibly fun and entertaining story. As it turns out Goggins was the Seal. If you read this book please read David Goggins book first. Between the two books you’ll cry, you’ll laugh and then you will get up off your MF ass and do something with you life!

Historia
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Amazing Story
Revisado: 06-14-19
David Goggins' life story is nothing short of amazing. I actually cried during many parts of this audio book while driving home from work. But not all tears were sad. Some were just from the overwhelming idea of what this man accomplished, to date.
And you know, even though I grew up as a middle class white girl in Colorado, I could relate to a lot of what David shared. I think that is one of the strengths of this book. On some level, most people can relate. That is why this book is so inspirational. It also makes you hold up a mirror to yourself and ask, "Can I do better? Yes, I can."
I highly recommend this book. Just be prepared for some bad language. Now I talk like a sailor.

I really enjoyed this novel. It is a well told story, interweaving WWI and WWII, the two women's lives and with espionage, romance and vengeance. Lovely.

Historia
Jean-Benoît Nadeau and Julie Barlow spent a decade traveling back and forth to Paris as well as living there. Yet one important lesson never seemed to sink in: how to communicate comfortably with the French, even when you speak their language. In The Bonjour Effect, Jean-Benoît and Julie chronicle the lessons they learned after they returned to France to live, for a year, with their twin daughters. They offer up all the lessons they learned and explain the most important aspect of all: the French don't communicate, they converse.

About Half Way Through
Revisado: 06-22-18
Normally, I reserve my criticism of a book until I finish it. Many books start slow, are okay in the middle and then end wonderfully. This book may end wonderfully, but so far, I don't care for it much.
The narrator has a flippant and superior attitude in her voice. The book is written by people who come off as superior to the French and therefore entitled to criticize the French in a demeaning way. Maybe most non French people find this amusing. I do not.
Having been to France several times and considering retiring in France, I have found French people to be little like the people described in this book.
I'll painfully finish listening to it. So far I can't recommend it.

Historia
In The Science of Likability, you'll get all that and more. I've taken 27 seminal scientific and psychological studies and broken them down, so you can use their findings to your advantage. Every piece of advice in this book to increase your social standing and likability factor is 100% backed by in-depth, peer-reviewed research. You can get a new haircut and wardrobe, and you even learn funny jokes. But likability is something more. It's subconscious, and it's the small signs that signal our brains to let their guards down and embrace others.

Barely Likable
Revisado: 03-30-18
The information in the book was good. The performance was terrible. The narrator's voice was so unlikable that I could barely get through this. Maybe it was a joke? You know, have a guy with a very annoying voice read a book about likability. LOL. Oh well, I made it through.

In this brilliant account of how eight jewels shaped the course of history, jeweler and scientist Aja Raden tells an original and often startling story about our unshakeable addiction to beauty and the darker side of human desire.

Revisado: 10-15-17
I have read many books about women in the French resistance and books about WWII. This is one of the best told stories of two very brave young sisters. The performance is very well done. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in WWII. I will be buying hard copies of the book as Christmas gifts.

Historia
On a sunny morning in May 1939, a phalanx of 867 women - housewives, doctors, opera singers, politicians, prostitutes - was marched through the woods 50 miles north of Berlin, driven on past a shining lake, then herded in through giant gates. Whipping and kicking them were scores of German women guards. Their destination was Ravensbrück, a concentration camp designed specifically for women by Heinrich Himmler, prime architect of the Holocaust.

Would you consider the audio edition of Ravensbruck to be better than the print version?
I didn't read the print version
Who was your favorite character and why?
Numerous people's stories
Which scene was your favorite?
I can't choose one
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Yes. I will never look at life the same. The horror and torments the women of Ravensbruck had to endure in hopes of surviving, until liberated, is deplorable. I will never have a bad day again where I don't think of these poor souls. My worst days are better than their best days by far. I will be grateful for each and every day of my wonderful life. It is unfathomable the horrors committed by the Nazis. I can't even find the words. This book should be required reading for all.
